BEWARE! Scammers target holiday parcels in a new scam

I received a phone call, from someone claiming to be from my bank. They asked for details that my bank already knew. I asked them to call me back, and took my phone into my bank. When they called back, I answered the phone, gave it to the teller, and she was able to confirm that this was a...

A grocery code reviewer spills the beans: Suppliers vote ALDI as their top supermarket of choice!

I shop at ALDI, and am pleased to do so. I appreciate the lower prices there, but I would be even more pleased to know that their suppliers are getting a fair deal.

What TV shows or movies would you recommend?

My husband and I love British mysteries! We signed up for BritBox, and it's great! All our favourites like Vera, Lewis, Shetland etc are available, including lots that we haven't seen yet in Australia.

Swallow & Ariell's Sultana Luncheon biscuits

My parents had a mixed business in country Victoria in the 1950's. The Swallows biscuit truck delivered biscuits in metal tins. These were later returned to the factory to be refilled. Broken biscuits were a penny a bag, and what a treat that was!

    November Competition: Christmas Memories!

In the early sixties, I remember Christmas being so hot, that my Mum would precook the chicken, the night before, and we had it cold, with a salad. No Christmas pudding, too hot to light the wood stove, so we had red and green jelly with ice-cream. My dad was a fire spotter at a local lookout...

    Marching Girls

I'm from country Victoria, and I remember in the early 60's seeing the marching girls practice on the local football ground after school. They were coached by committed older ladies who knew their stuff. Sadly another good activity for our young girls and women has disappeared!

It seems that Woolies are trying to lure the younger generation in, rather than the disabled, who might not spend as much!

Outraged farmer exposes Aussie supermarkets' unfair rule

When people used to grow their own fruit and vegetables, a bug on a leaf would just be brushed off! The supermarkets are too fussy about produce being 'perfect'! I'd rather a bug, than insecticides on my food!

Unlock the secrets to preserving your food with these canning essentials

Years ago I would preserve fruit in Fowler's Vacola bottling jars. Every year I'd buy a box of peaches, pears or apricots and preserve them. Then the fruit prices went up! It was cheaper to buy a can of fruit, than to spend money on fruit, sugar and power, to preserve them myself!

Woolies shopper allegedly accused of theft due to frustrating self-checkout error

I will not use self checkouts on principle! This is doing someone out of a job, and I don't want to be watched by cameras, like I'm a prospective shop lifter!

    Gobstopper Marathon.

Gobstopper Marathon. Credits: Pixabay I remember as a girl, having a regular competition with my best friend to see who could suck a 1d Gobstopper the longest! We would have to show each other that it was still there, by poking out our tongue!
