This traffic law could cost you big—are you guilty of breaking it?

Common sense doesn't seem to have much to do with it. It's probably more about an opportunity for revenue raising.

Mysterious white growth has a garden owner baffled

It seems to have been identified by an expert already but it looks like a form of mycetozoa or slime mould; species of which are quite common in damp woodlands and gardens but not usually in such large clumps.

Customers outraged as major bank rejects cash in multiple branches

A cashless world will have a big affect on children; especially those that like to earn a few dollars and keep them in a piggy bank. This is how they learn about money. Are children all expected to have a bank account and a credit card in the future? Whoops! I just noticed that Maria posted the...

    SDC Trivia Game #199 - 11/12/2023

Q4 should be; yes, it makes a sound. It creates sound waves which could be heard by any sensor capable of recognising sound waves. The philosophical BS is created by nit-picking people who seem to believe that sound only exists if it is actually heard by somebody or something.

Westpac issues apologies after leaving customers without access to money for hours

I tried to make a transaction on Monday evening. I had to get a good night's sleep and make the transaction in the morning. Dammit! Such an inconvenience!

I would want visitors to my house to wear something on their feet and not enter with bare feet.

New book reveals shocking insider claims about King Charles!

Wow! such venom from so many people. The Queen was a very hard act to follow and Charles is trying hard to do a good job but obviously has no hope of pleasing some people. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

ANZ secretly pushing customers out of branches, whistleblower claims

Computer savvy people will usually resolve their disputes on-line. People who go into the branch may not have that confidence. Telling them to go home and deal with it on-line may open them to serious errors or possible scams - irresponsible of the bank. I have always had excellent customer...

Police arrest mum in her underwear over unpaid bill

My very brief research indicates that, in Queensland, it is illegal to leave a child under 12 years old, alone. This young girl has only just reached the age of consent and appeared very scared. I think it very irresponsible of the police to say it was acceptable to leave her alone without...

Here's why the proposal for a new pay-per-throw tax model is controversial: 'Absolutely a ridiculous idea'

As previously mentioned in this thread, the solution in Singapore is well worth investigating. They have built several 'waste-to-energy' plants in which most solid waste is incinerated and the heat is used to generate electricity which is fed into the grid...

Where are the moderators? This kind of language shouldn't be acceptable on this site. On the other hand, it takes one to recognise one.

Here's why the proposal for a new pay-per-throw tax model is controversial: 'Absolutely a ridiculous idea'

Ridiculous idea. We already pay Council rates for rubbish removal so we shouldn’t have to pay another fee for the same thing. I would think that the cost to the Council of administering such a scheme would be greater than the cost of disposing of the rubbish. Comments that people would put their...

Mum who ditched toilet paper for rags causes massive stir

Makes a lot of sense from a cost and environmental standpoint but I suspect most people are too precious to go along with it. That's what us baby-boomers used for the first year or so of our lives. In her memoires my Mother wrote that she was quite proud of the 'white flags' she hung out on the...

Whenever I need to transfer or pay a large amount of money, I transfer a small amount to the destination bank account, then check that it has arrived. My internet banking system then has the correct account information for more transfers.
