Residents Outraged: Find Out How North Sydney's Cashless Parking Could Affect You!

I am greatly in support of keeping cash for several reasons (charity collection, homeless on the street, children learning about money, garage and car boot sales, buskers, etc) even though I haven't had any cash in my pocket since the height of Covid. Tapping that bit of plastic on a machine is...

Exposed: How Qantas Left a Passenger Totally Humiliated – What You Need to Know Before Your Next Flight!

Disgraceful by Qantas. The customer should have been put first, especially this one. The staff member should have been given an economy seat. It was only Brisbane to Cairns after all.

'Judge me all you want': This psychologist never returns her shopping trolley for one reason

'How did your kids get to the shopping trolley safely?' another commenter asked Dobson. 'Did you leave them in the car alone and get the trolley? Or were they portable enough to make it without a trolley?' Good questions. Just do the reverse of picking up the trolley. Supermarket carparks are...

A cunning bank scam wipes out couple's $240,000 life savings—are your funds at risk, too?

Any time that I have large sums of money to transfer to a new payee, I always send a test run with a small amount of money, then check that it arrived correctly before sending the rest.

A cunning bank scam wipes out couple's $240,000 life savings—are your funds at risk, too?

It's really scary when the number called (133 464) is the correct number according to the contact number on the ING website but went to the scammers. Any of us could have fallen for that. ING needs to investigate how that happened and check the integrity of their website. Any time that I have...

Proposed bill aims to fine businesses and individuals up to $25,000 for refusing cash payments

It's primarily the Govt and banks that are pushing to go cashless. Children need cash to learn about money; homeless people on the street and buskers need cash; charity tin collectors need cash; a lot of older people prefer cash; car boot and garage sales prefer to deal in cash.

Lost in transactions: Widow’s family accuses Westpac of negligence over mysterious withdrawals

The family could/should have obtained internet access to the mothers' account and checked it frequently. Perhaps they could also have stipulated that withdrawals were limited to a much more reasonable amount per day or per transaction.

Lost in transactions: Widow’s family accuses Westpac of negligence over mysterious withdrawals

Possibly not the daughter. It's not clear from this report whether the bank verified her identity. It's possibly somebody who had earned the trust of the mother and is scamming her. The bank should have CCTV so that an enquiry can investigate such things.

Royal insiders reveal Princess Catherine's condition amid cancer battle

My niece underwent what was meant to be routine abdominal surgery a couple of years ago. In the process it turned out to be advanced cancer and she died within a few months. We just don't know how this is panning out for Catherine. She needs time, and peace away from the media spotlight and...

Resident slams major city council for ‘disgraceful’ tactic: ‘It's a waste of money’

We have a choice: Participate responsibly in recycling and rubbish disposal programmes, or increase Council rates to pay somebody else to do it for us, or live on a rubbish tip of a planet.

Resident slams major city council for ‘disgraceful’ tactic: ‘It's a waste of money’

I find this amusing and I'm somewhat in support. There doesn't seem to be any penalty involved. Rubbish disposal is arguably the biggest issue affecting the health of this planet. Incorrect recycling is a waste of money. Either the Council has to spend extra time and resources to separate the...

Experts expose truth behind Woolworths Rewards program

I am confident our rewards programme(s) save us money on a monthly or annual basis. I'm not inclined to spend my time doing the rounds of 3 or 4 supermarkets checking prices in case I might be able to save a few more dollars by that means. Also, I'm sure a whole of swag of entities and Companies...

Singapore Airlines apologises to injured Australian couple after flight turbulence

The operative words here are "in most cases". In most cases, pilots do warn people to make sure their seat belt is on, but sometimes the forces of nature are quite unpredictable. In any case, all seated people should have had their seat belt on.

Lawyer’s provocative Woolworths stunt exposes consumer tactics: ‘They're intrusive’

I would expect a lawyer to conduct himself with a bit more respectability. I wouldn't hire him. I am surprised that Woolworths accepted the application in such a name. It was clearly somebody aiming to ridicule the system. I have been a Rewards member for several years and it pays for my...

Singapore Airlines apologises to injured Australian couple after flight turbulence

It's interesting that all these comments are in support of the airline and for keeping the seat belt on at all times when seated. That simple piece of advice may have saved many injuries and I hope it will be taken into account for anybody that chooses to take action against the airline. My...

    SDC Trivia Game #363 - 23/05/2024

Quite right; the answer given is the consequence of millions of people watching that episode, not the reason why they watched it.

Double whammy: Loss of pensioner’s wallet leads to $20,000 in unwarranted fines

Surely the only way to associate these offences with this man would be to sight the driving licence. So it seems the law enforcement officer didn't check that the offending driver was the legitimate owner of the licence. Based on this report, there doesn't seem to be any connection between this...

ANZ customers to endure a long commute due to local branch closure

I can well understand that Katoomba-Leura is not big enough to support 4 major banks profitably any longer but, hopefully it can support at least one bank if most people moved to it.

Pocket change into fortune? Man turns 5c coin into $2,000

I don't understand the expression: "What's more, the two heads are rotated 180 degrees from each other, a contrast to the standard alignment on regular coins." The coin is not meant to have two heads which is why it is so valuable, so how can the misalignment of 180 degrees be in contrast to the...

Stranger's ‘rude’ remark at supermarket leaves mum stunned

Kids will be kids, albeit sometimes excitable and noisy but the rest of us need to have a bit of understanding and patience. It sounds like Lauren handled her girls pretty well explaining about the support dog and I can't believe anybody has perfectly behaved children as the older woman claims.
