Coles prices prompt cost-of-living conversations among Australians

I keep a very detailed database of my grocery shops and I'm finding most items have gone up by at least .50c lately. My shops have gone up from average $120 to $180

Locals want this creek renamed over concerns of racism. Do you agree?

I am currently reading 1984 - we are going in the same direction. You cannot say what you think now and soon you won't even be able to think what you think.

The market for old phones is booming! Could your old phone be worth thousands?

I don't say anything because I think social media is conversational more than educational. It still annoys me but I wouldn't correct someone who is talking to me, so I don't correct either.

An Aussie woman is disputing her $1000 driving offence, but some people think she deserved it – do you agree?

Phone, food, rolling machine - whatever. You're hands and attention were not on the road pay the fine and pay attention next time.

Love the grammar police. I'm not being sarcastic because I do! I am totally on the point of screaming "its not me and whoever - its whoever and I" Grrrrrrrr!

Supermarkets are changing for the better - YOU decide what they sell

In Tassie there is an IGA "chain" called "Hill Street" they are really great shops with lots of local Tassie produce, VERY FRESH fruit and veg., and a wonderful deli. The prices may be a little higher but if you buy something its not dead by the next day. THIS is how you compete with C & W!

Woolworths customers are fuming over this 'constant' issue – do you agree?

At least Aldi has service and their products are cheaper. If Woolies and Coles were cheaper I wouldn't worry too much about myself replacing their staff.

‘Buy now, pay later’ schemes bury Aussies in debt: ‘Before I knew it, I was drowning’

I hope (but I doubt) Jacqueline's story might stop some other person from going down the same path. I learnt my "buy now pay later" lesson 56 years ago when I bought a guitar on hire purchase (as it was called then) I totalled up my payment and found I was paying a whopping 25% more! I have...

Do you do any of these things at the checkout? A Coles cashier shares the most frustrating customer habits

I never use self checkouts because I like the interaction with the operator. If I had that girl serve me all the time I would self checkout and she wouldn't have a job. I always insert my card because its "pending" if I don't .

Aussie commuter furious over $277 myki fine – does the fine really match the offence?

Good! A bit more of this would MAYBE make people actually PAY for tickets instead of getting a FREE ride. I was horrified by the amount of people not tapping on or off when I lived in Victoria. Someone previously said 90% didn't pay and they were not too far off. One trip I did of 15...

Aussie commuter furious over $277 myki fine – does the fine really match the offence?

Same!! I frequently travelled by bus in Frankston 3 years ago and on one trip, another passenger and I were the only ones from 15 who actually tapped on. I mentioned it to the driver (after everyone got off) and he said he's paid to drive and its not worth a "fight or abuse" to say anything.

Have you resorted to unhealthy meals just because they are cheaper?

I have. When I was away and wanted lunch, a salad was going to cost me $17 (mostly lettuce at $2 per head then) so I got Maccas $5 something.

The Internet is torn over this mum’s UNUSUAL lunchbox idea for her kid – ‘Poor kid!’

Well done mum My D-I-L is a nurse and my GD never tasted sugar until she was 5, her treat was dried fruit too. Now she enjoys a lolly but it isn't a big deal.

Coles trials removal of single-use plastic produce bags in select stores

I do too. I can't see how people will remember to bring produce bags when the single use grocery bags have been out for years and they still can't "remember" to bring re-usables.

I would keep one or use a cheap one from an op shop.

Are we losing our Aussie slang?

You would appreciate this saying from my father "swearing is a pathetic attempt by the word poor to express themselves". He respected a politician from years ago (his name escapes me at the moment) who he said "could insult you and you didn't realise it, until you looked it up!"
