Clever man outwits a bank scammer: 'He had an excuse for everything!'

What we do is just never answer the phone unless the person is in our "phone book". If the phone rings it always say "so and so is calling" so we pick up. Anyone else can leave a message. We signed up for Do Not Call and do not get as many these days. Works for us.

Woolworths deli counter rant sparks heated debate—whose side are you on?

I gave up buying from the deli at my local Coles due to the rudest person they have behind the counter. Even a letter written to the Manager (never got a response btw) telling her how rude she was to customers and to have a look at the Facebook page and see complaints from others.

Clever man outwits a bank scammer: 'He had an excuse for everything!'

Finally someone with a brain and he used it. Well done. It is not hard to engage and we all know (it has been advertised widely) that the banks do not send you text messages like this at all. Unsolicited phone calls my hackles immediately go on alert.

Nationwide shortage of popular grocery buy sparks confusion, dismay: ‘Gone as well’

Noticed plenty in my Woolworths store at Miami (WA) this morning. Would not know there was a shortage at all. Personally I don't buy softdrinks so not concerned.

ALDI coffee wins ‘world’s best’ at the 2024 Golden Bean Awards!

No, but I will! Heard last night on tv that coffee will be $6 a cup or even more soon. Well I refuse to pay that. I do not drink much coffee...only one a day so I will have it for breakfast as I normally do.

Shopper scores free Coles delivery through ‘genius’ trick

I live within spitting distance of Cole but I would still be charged $10. The retirement village I live in is 2 mins drive away (or less) straight up the road so surely they could come up with a cheaper charge for residents who live here.

Telstra customers to wait nine days for service restoration: ‘Incredibly frustrating’

So now we know it can happen to Telstra as well as Optus. I stayed with Optus. No problem personally with them at all.

Disturbing trend at major banks greatly affects many Australians

Bankwest is our main account for our daily transactions, super etc. I always draw out cash one a fotrnight but there is no Bankwest ATM close by. However I also have an account with Police and Nurses and I can go to an ATMX which is close by and withdraw at no charge. What I now do is once a...

‘Stay vigilant’: Coles shoppers discover discrepancies in self-serve registers

Talking about being vigilant I usually buy my look alike Drumsticks (the icecreams) Crowns from Aldi for $3.69 for a pack of four. Today bought a pack of Drumsticks from Coles on special for $4.75. Weighed one of the Aldi ones and it was 86 grams. The other one from coles was 71 grams...

Cash is in danger of disappearing.

Today at my local newsagent a sign on the wall asking customers to please pay with Cash (if able to do so). Cash is King it said. The push is on...thankfully.

Big Four banks’ controversial move leaves thousands of Aussies feeling abandoned

I do our banking online. My husband with short term memory loss cannot work a computer other than his ipad to play games. If I fall off the perch first he is up the creek without a paddle if we are forced into digital. Mentally challenged and disabled who understand cash and use it capably...

Research reveals the costly credit card mistake most Australians are making

I remember asking my step daughter many years ago (when my husband and I had to bail her out after she had too much on her credit card) did she know what interest rate she was paying. She did not have a darn clue. Financial literacy should be taught at school before they leave to get their...

This Aussie's experience with an online trailer sale will make you think twice before you click 'buy'

Why would any sensible person hand over $150 to someone they do not know. Very, very foolish.

Research reveals the costly credit card mistake most Australians are making

I am the same...pay in full. Living beyond peoples' means is the problem these days They even put holidays on credit and are paying for it long after the thrill of the holiday is over. I personally could not live like that. If I don't have the money I would not go until I did.

I have the platinum bankwest zero card and pay it off in full every month...never paid interest in my life! If you live within your means anyone can do the same.

Health insurer to close 5 branches, cites customer shift to digital platforms

I have been doing some investigating and found this on this site. They did not mention in the letter that you could do this. I hope it is still available. The only problem is if you do not have a computer and printer. I imagine you could surely ring them and get them to post out some claim...

Health insurer to close 5 branches, cites customer shift to digital platforms

Yes that is right. Everyone has to be catered for in society; not just the computer and smart phone literate. What happens to the rest of society who are unable to work all this technology??
