You're quite right, the extortionate rates charged by so-called official forex companies at airports in Australia are the real rip-off. The money changers in S E Asia are just trying to make a living and may try underhanded tactics. It's up to us to keep a close eye on things and check the outcome.

Sorry, but anybody who takes the risk of engaging in such purchases should do so at there own risk. Expecting involvement or compensation from a bank comes at a cost and only penalizes other bank customers.

This kind of slight-of-hand tactic by money changers has been prevalent in South East Asia for donkeys years, and no doubt in other parts of the world. It was attempted frequently in Singapore's Change Alley back in the 1970s.

Abusing store staff is not a solution; it's just stupid. I haven't seen or read this particular book but kids need to be educated about sex at least from early puberty. We bought an excellent little book for our kids when they were that age. I think it was called "Where Did I Come From?"

Thankyou for that correction. The "not my job" attitude is disappointing in that all entities at the airport don't have a common goal of keeping the industry safe and efficient. They are the security department after all. The hazard they ignore sets the standard they are prepared to accept.

Surely, passengers then have to pass through security. The security staff should be able to recognise intoxicated people and take them off the flight.

If you can't afford it, don't buy it. If you think the pricing is wrong, the responsible thing to do would be to bring it to the attention of the store manager. It might make you feel important but there is nothing to be gained by broadcasting it to thousands of people on social media.

Easy test - do they weigh the same? If the vendor's claim that the reduction is because it is tighter wrapped then there should still be the same amount of paper, therefore weigh the same. If they don't weigh the same, there's probably less paper so Coles is lying!
