    When my eldest daughter was a little one she liked the sauce bottle. She called it chookie because of the parrot on the bottle. Didn’t drink out of it, but you do what you have to do. It was a good solution!

    My story is of my Grandfather. He was Hugh Norman Coventry, a brother of the well known Collingwood Football Club brothers Syd and Gordon. My grandfather was killed in France just a couple of weeks before my father was born. My Grandfather was also a very good footballer.

    It was nothing to do with Covid - it was to do with profit! I may be wrong but I think self serve came first.

    Of course there would have been increased business - natural increase in population would account for that. Therefore increased employment Overall. However, when I see customers self checking out surely that has to mean less paid check out operators. More employment overall maybe, but less on...

    Of course, for this to work, you have to be doing a self-checkout. We shouldn’t forget our checkout operators - I will never self-check-out because this is a cost saving thing for Woolies, and a loss of a job for lots of people.
