They were in trouble years ago for allowing money laundering through ATMs, so are being very careful now.

No bank in their town, paying rent or some payment to another person. All you need is the other persons phone number, it's good way to not disclose your account details to someone, just your phone number.

Can you read or do you just imagine what you read? A customer of the CBA can STILL deposit up to $10,000 at an ATM. This story is about ATM's NOT at the counter in the branch.

Reducing it, obviously it can never be stopped, just like the road toll will never be zero, but you aim for less crime and less deaths.

This is a security measure to cut down on money laundering. If you read the article you'd see the bank has not changed the deposit amount for it's own customers.

Try reading the story. CUSTOMERS can still deposit $10,000. People without a CBA card can only deposit $750, that would be mainly OTHER BANK customers. They use a phone number to deposit their takings, maybe rent, etc. It's a security measure, of course maybe you're laundering money, that's why...
