Government unveils $5.6 billion investment in transformative aged care reforms

This is all very good on paper. I have requested an aged care assessment but been told I am not eligible for one as I only need help with 2 things & need 3 to qualify. I need a rail on my back steps for safety (I have fallen down them once recently. I also fell up my side steps recently as I...

The Secret Parking Rule That Could Cost You Big – Man Fined Right Outside His Home!

I have known this rule since I was a teenager & got my licence (& that's many, many years ago). No sympathy for this idiot who thought he could park wherever he chose.

Town’s connectivity crisis sparks debate over modernising Australia's telecommunications obligations

You need to go back into your kennel. You have no idea what it is like living in rural parts of this large country. Not far from where I live there is no mobile connection available. I drove for miles continually trying to ring 000 to report a fire which was just getting going in the bush...

Woolworths shoppers slam car park behaviour showing '"I don't care" attitude'

You'd be surprised how many will leave their trolley with the $1 coin in it as it is "too far" to walk to return it. I know this is the case as I have collected quite a few coins from trolleys at my local WW store.

Woolworths shoppers slam car park behaviour showing '"I don't care" attitude'

Not necessarily so. I have collected quite a few $1 coins out of trolleys at my local WW store where we have to use either a coin or the plastic disc which you can buy & keep (they gave them away when first introduced).

Avoid $410 fine with this surprising traffic law most drivers ignore

Even worse is when a semi-trailer driver decides he needs to overtake another semi-trailer going up a hill. Neither of them is going anywhere near the speed limit (usually doing less than half the limit) but nothing is ever done by the police to control this bad behaviour.

Face value: New technology changes checkout game, but can face privacy hurdles Down Under

What about seniors who have to get someone else to do some shopping for them. I give my friend my card & she gets what I need. No problem. My aged care provider wanted to have my card number when I signed up for house cleaning "in case we ever have to do shopping for you"!! Needless to say...

Most misunderstood road rule revealed: Mastering this can save you $227

Not simple at all. Why would I indicate right until I reach the exit which is really the continuation of the road I am already on? And then indicate left to continue straight ahead? Bloody stupid if you ask me & very confusing for the person behind you who thinks you are going to continue...

Most misunderstood road rule revealed: Mastering this can save you $227

But that means I have to signal left to go straight ahead. Dumb rule & very confusing. Where are you going? Left? Straight ahead? You are not turning left if you are going straight ahead & if it is a single lane roundabout if you don't signal right or left you are obviously going straight...

Most misunderstood road rule revealed: Mastering this can save you $227

I find it very confusing when someone puts their left blinker on & then continues straight through the roundabout which seems to be what the road rule book says they have to do. They are not turning left but just continuing straight up the road they were already travelling on. Why do we not...

State makes groundbreaking move to Triple Zero emergency calls

Firstly, this is for NSW residents, not Qld. So you don't have to worry about not being able to use it. Secondly, you can buy a cheap mobile phone & get rid of your landline one. Monthly charges for me were way lower when I went to mobile from landline. I am in my 80s & have no kids to teach...

Services Australia warns recipients to be vigilant over ‘bonus’ Centrelink payments

I have been a pensioner for many years & have never heard this nonsense of receiving $1000 every six months. All you get, & all you are entitled to, is your pension every fortnight.

Some seniors might soon be paying way more for aged care—find out why

Assisted euthanasia is just another word for murder/suicide - murder by the person who administers the drug, suicide by the person who demands this way of dying. There is an old & true saying - we have a time to be born & a time to die. I intend to live as long as God gives me breath & my...

Some seniors might soon be paying way more for aged care—find out why

There are ways around the law. My mother, who was really healthy but with some arthritis (in her 90s), when she complained about her hip one night the Dr ordered an injection of morphine from which she never regained consciousness. To my mind she was murdered (aka voluntary euthanasia) by this...

Surging aged care prices create unexpected living costs—find out why!

This is so scary. Things change so quickly & always to the detriment of the aged. When I cared for my parents their package was much easier to negotiate than now. Now I am in my 80s & can't even get assessed for an aged care package as I only require 2 things to maintain my safety at home &...

Heartbreak hits footy field: AFL community mourns sudden loss of star journalist

Why was he on his phone while walking across the road? This is a horror for the driver. I nearly hit a lady one day when she walked off the footpath straight in front of my car while talking on the phone. She didn't even seem to see me after I braked to prevent my car from hitting her.

Energy advocates criticise new charges on users: 'Madness and rip-off'

I agree with getting solar panels disconnected if I am going to be charged for exporting the power they generate. Already these companies are ripping us off by paying peanuts for exported power while charging extortionate prices for using the same power from the grid. Solar panels were the...

This bride's shocking wedding invitation detail has everyone talking! Find out what's causing the uproar!

No. He picked her so presumably goes along with all the instructions, or at least, knows what she is like.

This bride's shocking wedding invitation detail has everyone talking! Find out what's causing the uproar!

I would feel like I was going to a funeral, not a wedding, if I was fully dressed in black (I didn't do this for the funerals of either of my parents, BTW). I would definitely not attend this wedding &, in view of the shouted instructions, I would probably not even reply to the invitation.
