Fact of the Day: An eye for a... tooth? This man was able to see again, but with his tooth?!
It sounds like something straight out of science fiction, but it’s real... surgeons can actually use a tooth to restore a person’s vision.

Known as tooth-in-eye surgery (or osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis), the procedure involves removing one of the patient’s own teeth, embedding a tiny lens inside it, and then implanting it into the eye. The tooth acts as a natural anchor that the body doesn’t reject, helping light reach the retina again.
Only a few hundred people worldwide have undergone this incredible operation since it was first developed in the 1960s, but for those who have, it’s been truly life-changing. One man, blind for 20 years, regained his sight and could make eye contact with loved ones again.
