If you’ve ever stood in front of the freezer aisle wondering what to bring home for dessert, Woolworths might have just made your decision easier.

The supermarket is dishing up a brand new range of ice creams inspired by some of Australia’s most beloved bakery treats—and they’re hitting shelves this Wednesday, October 15.

The new Woolworths Bakery-Inspired Ice Cream Collection celebrates three Aussie icons: Mud Cake, Lamington, and Pavlova. Each one promises to deliver that familiar bakery flavour—just in scoopable, freezer-friendly form.

The flavours that taste like home

The lineup features three one-litre tubs, each crafted with care (and a generous helping of nostalgia):

The New Woolworths Ice Cream Range

Woolworths Mud Cake Ice Cream — A rich chocolate base loaded with real chunks of Woolies’ famous mud cake, ribboned with indulgent chocolate fudge.

Woolworths Lamington Ice Cream — A classic combo of raspberry ripple, coconut and cocoa blended into a creamy, dreamy base.

Woolworths Pavlova Ice Cream — A sweet nod to the Aussie summer staple, featuring white chocolate flavour, meringue pieces, and a tropical passionfruit-mango swirl.

A scoop of nostalgia for summer

'When you think about Australia’s most loved desserts, mud cake, lamingtons, and pavlova are definitely up there,' says Madeleine Tapley, Woolworths’ Product Developer for Freezer (or as she playfully calls herself, ‘Chief Ice Cream Officer’). 'By mixing these iconic flavours with ice cream, we’re hoping to bring a sweet treat for everyone to enjoy as we head into summer.'

Early reactions online suggest they could become this summer’s go-to dessert.

Tapley added that while the flavours pay homage to traditional favourites, the team also wanted to bring a fresh twist. 'We decided to blend in trendy flavour profiles like passionfruit to add another layer of excitement. Every scoop was crafted to strike that perfect balance of taste and texture.'

Already a hit with shoppers

Foodie influencer Nectorius Papi recently spotted the tubs early at his local Woolies and shared the find online—sending fans into a frenzy. His post has already attracted thousands of likes and comments from dessert lovers eager to try the flavours before the official release.

'Woolies has done it again—these look incredible! Pavlova ice cream might be my new summer obsession.'

Comment from a follower on Nectorius Papi’s post

With Aussies already buying more than nine million tubs and multipacks of ice cream every month, it’s safe to say this bakery-inspired range will have no trouble finding freezer space in homes across the country.

Made using fresh Australian dairy, the new Woolworths ice creams will be available in 1L tubs for RRP $6.50 each at Woolworths Supermarkets and Metro stores from Wednesday, October 15.

What This Means For You

The only challenge? Deciding which flavour to try first.

They certainly don't appeal to me either but I am sure there will be plenty of takers, there always is.

Once again, I would purchase these interesting flavoured icecreams for a special occassions. Otherwise, the home brand ice-cream is our usual, that goes well with the weekly budged. 🙏🦋

I actually love Peter’s Light & Creamy, it’s the only one I buy, unless I’m going through a phase. Valhalla Old English Toffee or their chocolate tops are my treat when I’m out or if I have an extra longing for one, so then we have to go out. 😂
