Same with my granddaughter we would have a girls day out at the beach, decide where to have lunch go shopping etc ,on other days she would do my hair , pick a colour to do my nails ,have sleepovers .I agree with most of this, with one exception. Sometimes my young granddaughter and I, have a 'girls day'. We do each others hair, paint each others nails, and sometimes watch videos like 'Legally Blonde' etc. Other times it's kicking a ball or discussing black v's pink and purple for fashion choices. When the grandies are not around, it's a case of 'comfort first' and 'if it feels good, do it'!
These are the things they will remember. Not how many presents you give them, but how present you are.Same with my granddaughter we would have a girls day out at the beach, decide where to have lunch go shopping etc ,on other days she would do my hair , pick a colour to do my nails ,have sleepovers .
Don't you mean out-laws?I also don’t worry about what people think about me, if you annoy me too much, then expect to be told. I used to always keep my opinions to myself, but not now. I’ve even unrelated people, mainly in-laws. I no longer care if visitors arrive & I’m still in my favourite teddy bear dressing gown. What a great idea SuzanneRose, I think most of us are immediately in it.
Exactly!I wear what I want to wear and not for others as they don't live in my skin nor my shoes. As for grandchildren, well I'd love any of them to come and visit me/us, but they all seem to just want to live their own lives and we're like "out of sight - out of mind", yet I looked after every one of the 10 when they were babies up to them being in grade 2-3 during school holidays. It seems the sign of the times has caught up with hubby and I and they only want us when they want some help with (3 granddaughters) their cars which is not too often, but sometimes I wish their cars needed more then we'd get to see more of them. One day we won't be here then they may think twice about their lives with their parents as they get old as we are now.
So why hurt people, button up Jo....I know the truth hurts, and my words can be painful!
