Pity a lot of it is bullshit - e.g. the most venomous spider in Australia is, I believe, the Sydney funnel web - it's just an aggressive, black, hairy monster. Redback spiders might be "signposted", but their bite is too small to penetrate anywhere except the soft skin of your big end, or children and babies.
Especially the show carefully forgets to mention that the majority of Australia's land mass is arid, unfit for cultivation and without a reliable water supply, so people can't live there permanently! People who want a 'big' population for Australia need to think about that. There's vegetation, yes, but about all that can eat it is camels (exotic pests) and insects. So we've got a lot of insects and insect-eating birds and small mammals. The way that clip depicts it, Australia is a big, empty and underutilized bit of land. Which makes us interesting to overpopulated countries like China in the event of invasion, In fact, we're already using land unsuitably, degrading what little arable land we have. And that empty land? It could sustain a small, nomadic population who knew where and when water should b available. It can't sustain agriculture or a stationary population of humanity. How many 'assylum seekers" (aka illegal immigrants) have landed on the western side of northern Australia and never been seen or heard of again? Occasionally you hear of groups found by chance before they die of starvation and thirst - I wonder what percentage does not survive?
