General Discussion Thread 17.04.2025

G’day, you beautiful bunch! 🌟Got something on your mind? The General Discussion thread is the perfect place to chat about whatever’s on your heart—share a funny story, ask a question, have a good old natter, or just pop in to say hello. No need to be shy—we’re all here for a friendly chat!

Now, here’s something to get us all feeling warm and fuzzy: What’s the kindest thing someone’s ever done for you? Could be a surprise act of kindness, a helping hand when you needed it most, or even a simple word of encouragement that stuck with you. Big or small, we want to hear all about it! 💛

For me, one time a friend remembered my absolute favourite book series and gifted me a beautiful set of them—just because. No special occasion, no birthday or Christmas—just because she knew how much I loved them. It was such a thoughtful surprise, and it meant the world to me that she’d paid attention to something I’d mentioned ages ago. It’s those little moments that really show how much someone cares.

I reckon these stories could make someone’s day—maybe even spark a happy memory for someone else. So, don’t be shy! Share your story in the comments below and let’s spread some kindness around!

A stranger paid for a coffee and avocado toast while I was looking for my purse. I accepted this and said Thank you. I am a senior Lady, and I reciprocated a couple of weeks later in the same shop for a similar Senior. We sat together and had a great chat.

A couple of years ago I was going through the supermarket checkout and when I got to pay my pin number wouldn't work. So embarrassing - I had visions of abandoning over $200 worth of Christmas shopping and having to go home and get a different bank card. Then I heard the lady behind me say - it's ok - I've got this and she promptly paid for my shopping. I was so overwhelmed - I didn't think people were so generous. I'll always remember her kind deed.

My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary at one of our favourite restaurant in Forster NSW. It was midweek and as it was early, not many patrons. Just after we were seated a younger couple were also seated. Tourists I think.
Our waiter asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and happily replied yes it was our wedding anniversary. We ordered our meal, selected a beautiful bottle of Bubbles and say back enjoying our company. Our meal was put on our table and must admit it was delicious. The younger couple also seemed to be having a great time, laughing also happy in each other’s company.
They left and paid for their bill just before my wife and I. I went to pay for our bill and we advised that the bill had been settled by the young couple who had just left. They heard our conversation with the waiter and decided to pay our bill. As you can imagine my wife and I were god smaked. Their kindness brought tears to our eyes. I tried to find them and thank them for their generosity, but alas I could not find them.
Their young age I don’t think would make them visitors to this site, my wife’s and I only regret is that we could not thank them.

My husband has a shoulder injury and has been struggling with mowing the grass. The other day while he was out the back I said “you’ve got some helpers out the front”. The family next door, including their two small children, were mowing and raking, edging and tidying. It was so lovely of them. We have wonderful neighbours. The family across the road regularly pop over with fresh eggs and other items they get through their work. We so appreciate everything all our neighbours do for us.
