'Ugliest' animal named fish of the year in New Zealand

The blobfish, affectionately known as Mr. Blobby, has been named New Zealand's Fish of the Year. This deep-sea dweller, which grows to about 12 inches (30 cm) long, topped the annual poll by the Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust, an environmental non-profit group, winning almost 1,300 out of more than 5,500 votes. The blobfish's unconventional beauty helped get voters over the line.
