Comedian falls flat after his debut on Channel 10: 'This gets worse and worse by the second'

The entertainment industry has changed so much over the years.

With it also comes changes in viewers' habits and preferences.

A comedian's recent foray into the world of late-night-talk shows sparked a conversation, yet not one he expected.

Sam Pang's latest talk show recently debuted on Channel 10 last Monday.

Pang is an Australian comedian who charmed audiences with his wit on various panel shows over the years.

His dry humour and quick quips also earned him a loyal following across social media.

Sam Pang's announcement about the talk show built up high expectations from fans.

However, his transition from a comedian to a main host was no easy task, and Pang's first foray left some fans feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Sam Pang Tonight met a mix of criticism and cautious optimism from his fans and viewers, who took to social media to share their thoughts.

Pilot episodes often set the first impression for a show, but for Sam Pang Tonight, many viewers described the premiere as 'awkward' and 'stiff'.

Viewers pointed out Pang's nervousness and frequent glances at his cue cards throughout his interview.

'This gets worse and worse by the second. Unbearable,' a fan pointed out.

Pang's first guest for the talk show, film star Jack Thompson, also raised the audience's eyebrows.

'I don't understand why they've started with this bloke for the first episode of this show,' one asked.

Eagle-eyed viewers also spotted the show's set design and production value.

Comments ranged from the set being 'low budget' to theories that it looked like it was filmed in 'Sam's living room'.

Overall, some fans believed that the show needed a bigger set and better camera work to match other famous late-night shows.

Despite Sam Pang Tonight's rocky start, Pang and his team also received constructive feedback.

Some viewers believed its potential yet hoped that the show's initial shortcomings could be improved.

'Lacklustre so far, but I'm sure it'll get better,' one fan optimistically noted.

Other fans encouraged viewers to give Pang a chance to 'settle in'.

'He's doing great. It's good to see someone bringing this format back to Australian television. Give it a chance!' one supporter exclaimed.

I am a fan of Sams. I was totally unimpressed with his first night. His jokes fell flat, his well known dry wit certainly dried up. I think and hope it was only nerves that made it seem so awkward. I know he can do better than that. I am still behind him 100%

I felt he was making jokes about his guests rather than allowing them to talk. Some of his one-liners were definitely cringeworthy and Sam looked uncomfortable throughout.
The set was cheap and tacky giving sketch show vibes. I think I dozed off midway.

I only caught the end of the doctor piece, got to admit totally forgot it was on. My husband was watching it and he didn't catch the entire show either, but he said there was a few laughs. I don't mind Sam at all, I like his dry wit when he feeds off his co-hosts or audiences. He needs his own Bert Newton, or I was going to say whoever Graham Kennedy had, and then I realised in the early days it was Bert, long before John Mangos. He'll bounce back, non of these shows ever started with a bang, unless you were watching the Funniest Home Videos with Doug Mulray which was pull when Kerry Packer rang and said not on my network.

8.40 pm is not late and I think with all the political correctness around it would be hard to have a good show and a good laugh. I love Sam and his humour but not sure 8.40 pm will work for him
