Massive petrol station opens up in this state, and it could be the biggest one yet

Vehicles are an integral part of people's lives.

Motorists and passengers use it to reach their destinations—whether it's for daily errands, GP check-ups, or even visiting family.

Fuelling vehicles and motorcycles could be a new experience for drivers in this state, especially those in the western suburbs.

Costco just opened the biggest petrol station in Melbourne, which has been dubbed the largest petrol station in the country.

The store's opening could be a game-changer for motorists looking for convenience and savings.

Located in Ardeer, this colossal petrol station was part of Costco's plans for expansion.

This expansion also included a newly built warehouse set to open next month.

The move from Docklands to Ardeer signified Costco's commitment to providing exceptional value to its members, particularly in rapidly growing regions.

Costco Australia's Country Manager, Chris Tingman, promised 'exceptional savings' for motorists, which could be music to budget-conscious drivers' ears.

Yet, lower fuel prices are just one of the reasons why this station's causing a stir.

The design of the petrol station itself is something to behold.

With 38 filling positions equipped with extra-long hoses, drivers could refuel their vehicles from either side of their vehicle without manoeuvring into specific spots.

This thoughtful feature should reduce wait times often experienced in smaller petrol stations.

Moreover, the bowsers are outfitted with the latest pay-at-the-pump technology, ensuring a seamless and convenient refuelling experience.

Motorists can pay for their petrol quickly without walking into the shop.

The new petrol station is located at 740 Ballarat Road, Ardeer, and is open daily from 7 am to 7 pm.

Whether you're an early bird or someone who prefers to run errands later in the day, you can still access the petrol station's services at your convenience.

As shoppers eagerly await the opening of the accompanying warehouse on 9 April, Costco is not just providing affordable petrol; it is also offering a comprehensive shopping experience that caters to diverse needs.

For seniors who are always on the go, this new petrol station could be a fantastic resource for cheap fuel.

Depends on what they term 'Exceptional savings' To me that must be petrol for $1.00, not the piddley discounts they currently offer.
The American way is here....

Apparently if you are a Costco member then you get the discount. So unless you are going to shop at Costco it's fine. If you don't have a Costco close or don't need to stockpile everything then it's irrelevant to us. Would we drive (for me) 50 kms out of my way to fill up with cheap fuel
Too bad they are not building it on the Central Coast of NSW

The closest Costco to the Central Coast is at Boolaroo, Lake Macquarie. Just a hop, skip and a holler down the F1.
I checked out Costco as a guest shopper. My sister has membership. It's a good place to shop if you have a big family, but not of any use to me. As far as the fuel goes, it is a petrol station without a counter. You have to pay at the pump, and be a Costco member to get the good prices. Same as any other membership, they all say it pays to belong .... but does it?

When they said Down Under, I immediately thought of Tasmania, but sadly, Tassie misses out yet again. we have nothing down here except Coles , Woolworths and a few IGA stores

Is there enough people in Tasmania in sections where they could put it to make it profitable?
Yeah that’s my thought I lived there for over 20 years and can’t even think of anywhere to put it where there’d be enough people to make money. 🤔

Is there any room left?. I lived there 69-70, and holidayed most my young years there, dad's parents lived in Killarney Vale, left in 79 to join military,I remember the Brisbane waters, tuggerah lakes always full of fishing, paragliding, sailing, yachting, skiing etc, bush everywhere between nth entrance and Toukley, bateau Bay and erina down to Avoca, wamberal, over to east Gosford and Terrigal, everywhere, and good surfing at shelly Beach, as I kept coming back to visit family and friends I noticed it slowly growing, but when I moved to northern tablelands in 94, and mum and dad moved to Walcha, everyone except 1 daughter who moved there, had all moved away. I didn't go back till roughly 2013 and 'Holey crap' fast food on every corner, shopping centres everywhere and soooo many houses, businesses and people, I couldn't believe how built out it was between Wyong and Tumbi Umbi, I even missed chittaway point turnoff, and mingara club was only a box, Mind u Long jetty hasn't changed much, but I sat in the memorial club looking out over Lake on a hot summer day, 1 tinny in middle, and it stank, probably hadnt dredged the inlet at the entrance. Shame coast used to be so laid back once ,except school holidays, now zip zip zip.
Didn't get up to my old stomping ground charmhaven, but it was getting busier when I left.✌️.

I like the idea of a long hose, I don't know why. My question is do they offer recharging points for EVs?
I hope not. Being a supermarket chain, are their EV recharging stations free like Westfield?

Is the photo representative of the service station at Ardeer? If so, the thing must be totally enclosed. Bizarre!

It seems like everything's getting bigger except our bank balances! Call me whatever but I just don't get it, I always thought bigger wasn't necessarily better😉. Mind u that's what my ex wife use to say:unsure:.

Saw this on the news the other night and people were cued around the block to go and get petrol there. Never ceases to amaze me why people by hook or by crook have to go and stand in a cattle race to go to a new shop. Big deal it will be there the next day and the next - stupid sheep - ready to get fleeced!

Indeed in many cases going the "extra mile" to save a few dollars will consume the very amount of fuel/cost benefit that you had attempted to save in the first place!....
What happens if you queue for hours and run out of petrol do people just push your car off the road so they can get closer,
what’s the etiquette here pray tell.🥹

Never stepped into a Costco store and never will.

The though of paying an admission fee to enter a supermarket does not sit well with me.
Although I have been in one years with a friend who had a card, never been back and the thought of paying subscriptions to shop definitely precludes me from returning. I remember when before that old queen Prime Minister took us into the then common market, which I might add did a lot of damage to both our and NZ economies. Every weekend we'd have boats coming over from France to do their weekly shopping because it was cheaper as they'd be shopping for several families, thats the only way I see the cost of joining conglomerates is particularly advantageous.
