Safety concerns prompt urgent recall as vehicle defect poses potential risks

Navigating the roads in an electric vehicle comes with its perks and challenges, and for Kia Niro EV owners, there's an important safety notice that demands immediate attention.

Kia Australia has issued a recall for the first-generation Niro EV due to a critical manufacturing flaw that could potentially lead to dangerous situations on the road.

The heart of the issue lies within the high-voltage battery safety plug.

According to the recall notice, a manufacturing error may cause this plug to become loose, leading to inconsistent terminal contact.

This seemingly minor defect can have significant consequences, as it may result in the vehicle unexpectedly losing motive power.

These high voltage and lithium batteries seem to be becoming a major problem, we've talked about phones etc before, but has anyone heard about any flare-ups with mobility vehicles? Don't need one yet, just curious.

I wouldn't expect them to fix things too quickly unless they think they might be sued.
Kia have a 7 year warranty. The car is now 8 years old and still has a problem with a door which even though they were reminded it, the car is now out of warranty and before Christmas still hadn't been fixed. The owner was still waiting to hear back about some other warranty issues too. They have since traded the car in but will pass on any reply they receive
