‘It has one job that it can’t do!’: Shoppers outraged over ALDI’s latest product fail

Keeping your fridge tidy can feel like an endless battle, especially when storage solutions promise to make life easier but end up causing more frustration.

One recent addition to ALDI’s Special Buys had shoppers excited.

However, they soon discovered a baffling flaw that left many questioning how it made it to shelves in the first place.

Keeping the fridge organised is a challenge, but finding the right storage solution can be even trickier.

There were plenty of options available to help keep things in order, but one ALDI product had shoppers frustrated over a glaring design flaw.

An ALDI customer took to social media to share their disappointment after purchasing the retailer’s Can Organiser, which was part of the week’s Special Buys for $4.99.

‘ALDI whyyy,’ the shopper wrote.

‘Got the can fridge organiser and no drinks fit. I wish I could say it’s just that one but I had two and neither hold a standard can.’

Other shoppers were just as baffled, with many calling it a major oversight.

‘I know double dipping is a huge thing now by upping the price and shrinking the items but this is a joke,’ one person said.

‘This one was a pretty epic fail on ALDI's behalf by the looks. It has one job that it can’t do in Australia,’ another wrote.

‘Oh no! Maybe you have to wait for more shrink-flation before you can start using the trays?!’ a third joked.

Several shoppers admitted they had encountered the same issue.

‘I had this problem too. I think they’re faulty. I returned them,’ one person shared.

‘I have the same problem, very frustrating,’ another said.

‘I got one too and I ended up standing the classic Coke cans,’ a third added.

‘I know!!! I got one too. Even the mini cans don’t fit!! So annoying. Found out it was too small after I ripped off all the stickers and threw away the receipt. So now I am just standing the cans up in it,’ someone else wrote.

The original poster clarified that they had purchased the drink can version rather than a smaller pantry-sized organiser, yet the issue remained.

Some suggested the problem could be due to variations in can sizes.

‘I have noticed the Coke cans from ALDI are shorter. Maybe designed for that size,’ one person noted.

‘They fit the 330ml cans. Not the 375ml cans,’ another said.

‘Maybe our cans will start shrinking in the coming months and ALDI already knows,’ someone speculated.

‘Maybe they are made in the UK where the can sizes are slightly smaller,’ another added.

‘I bet it fits the US cans which are a tiny bit shorter than Aus cans,’ a commenter suggested.

Many agreed the simplest solution was to buy a different brand.

‘I got [mine] from Temu. It’s adjustable for different size cans. When you take a drink out the next one moves forward,’ one person recommended.

‘I have the Kmart one and it fits 375ml cans,’ another said.

‘The Reject Shop sells these and they actually work,’ a third shared.

Those cans are taller than the standard size soft drink cans that this container is meant for. If she was so concerned why not take it back but then again she was most probably told that energy drinks aren't classed as standard size and made to look like a fool over a whole $4.99

I would have thought that the container was designed to hold various condiments in individual bottle shapes and sizes allowing easier access to them by removing the container and taking out the required item, rather than searching through the shelf in the fridge to find items. Drink cans would normally all be stored together in the fridge making no requirement for a collective container.

Maybe it’s just me but looking at the photo I immediately think just stand the bloody cans up. Another social media outrage.
