JB HiFi scam

I received an email today 3/2/2025 from JB HiFi stating that I was a winner in their monthly draw. Once it said to click on Portal link, I became suspicious and rang JB HiFi here in SA. I was advised that this is a SCAM. You spin the wheel to see what prize you win.

Hi @alyn6652! Thanks for sharing that! It’s so good that you were cautious and checked with JB Hi-Fi directly. Scams like that can be really convincing, especially when they claim you’ve won something. Always better to be safe than sorry! If you ever get something similar in the future, it’s great to double-check with the company directly. Hopefully, others can learn from your experience!

I get e-mails saying I have won various bits and pieces and have to answer a few questions first. I check the e-mail address and delete because it has not come from the real company. Delete, delete, delete.

You are the winner of a********** from Bunnings, JB Hi Fi, Chemist warehouse, BCF, Home Hardware, Amazon etc, etc, etc
Wake up people. You can't a prize in a competition you didn't enter. You can't get a payout from a trading scheme you didn't join, but you will get scammed if you fall for this crap.

If I replied to every "winner" or "competition" scam running around, I could potentially have three $10 million mansions on the Gold Coast, six Lamborghini Huracans, four Ferrari SF90 Spiders, $8 million in gold bullion, a Dominator Ilumen 28 ocean going cruiser and a first aid emergency kit from "NRMA".

I could be so lucky....

I don't even open those types of emails, regardless of whom they are from, except when they are addressed by my name.

None of "dear valued customer" crap for me!
