‘Pack of hyenas’: $130,000 gone in moments in a chilling scam you should watch out for

Phone calling for funds or selling I believe is wrong. I am a senior & I will say "I don't do business on the phone with people I don't know". Some oldies are housebound & someone phoning would be someone to talk to. To say some oldies can be silly tells me you are a young one who doesn't...

A light for the lost: Honouring the tireless advocate for Australia’s most vulnerable youth

I have just been reading Father Riley's life. Many years ago mother-in-law visiting, we were watching TV, about homeless children. M-I-L said "they should go home". To her the fault was the kids, not parents. I replied that I used to think that, then realised many are from homes where...

‘Pack of hyenas’: $130,000 gone in moments in a chilling scam you should watch out for

How many people buy tickets in Lotto, AND how many are winners, just ONE? Do you really need to win Lotto and how different would it make your life? estimate just how much it has cost you chasing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Maybe better off putting that money under the mattress.

‘Do you really need a bag?’: Coles sign sparks outrage over plastic use.

Many shops, smaller ones, do not offer bags for purchases made - an added cost for the shops. I recently lost my Card case - how/why? We only have two hands. Women do not have lots of pockets, like men, we have a handbag carried across our shoulder, or on our arm or hand, which reduces our...

What’s one little thing that made you smile this week?

Happened a couple of weeks ago, but I am still smiling. I lost something. I went back to the shop, found nothing, got outside, went back in again thinking may had dropped on floor, again nothing. Did everything I needed to do, finally put notice in lost & found in that locality. Girl from a...

The surprising history of Vegemite that most Australians don’t know

In recent years I came across a book at my local Library, "History of Vegemite", cover in colors of Red, Yellow & black. I think in the course of producing a new item there is always much of industrial espionage & Vegemite seemed to go through several owners. There was always competition...

Local politician's 'civil war' April Fools prank sparks massive outrage

I guess I do tend to take things seriously so don't always catch that it is a joke. A simple, obvious joke is fine & April 1 is the time for it. But some "jokes" are not "jokes" so don't try them on family, friends or the wider community, not funny.

'Beyond disgraceful': Controversial shop display sparks fierce debates about symbolism

I am shocked that anyone could display something like that. If he shop owner wants to believe that, so be it, but he does not need to put it up in front for us all to see. War is war, those who were fortunate to come home from the war did not talk about it & we should never ask them to talk...

    Joke Great Catch!

None of it is really funny, but sadly to push him out of the marrital bed, would only send him off to find another bed. Sounds like he wants too much & will never be happy with just one wife.

    Old ice chests

Correct, this was the IceChest, not the other photo which was a pantry cabinet. The description given of an Ice Chest attached to the photo of the Kitchen Pantry Cabinet made no sense, because the photo & description did not belong together.

    Old ice chests

They were called "Coolgardie Safes". My mother had one which hung outside under the grape vines where there was shade & also a breeze. How would people today survive without refrigeration. But then life was geared to how we lived life back then.

    Scam attempt.

Much of the stuff that comes via email or phone is easy to spot as a Scam. Some, while not a Scam, I believe borders on a Scam. When OnLine purchasing, a Token is placed on our account/Subscription. The one-off purchase is not a problem. When making annual subscriptions it is a problem...

Father drains $720,000 from ailing parents in shocking tale of betrayal and greed

This story has me very concerned, I am sure many feel this way. First we must be sure of whom we have to draw up these documents, they need to be reputable & need to keep a check, like a regular audit once the Power of Attorney is activated. I am a senior, I have a Will & Power of Attorneys...
