Can this state's latest subsidy plan slash your power bills? Here's what we know

Not all houses can have insulation installed in walls after they are built. It needs to be done when the house is being built. It is definitely the best way to save on energy bills. I pay less than $300 a quarter, only because my house is fully insulated. I live alone.

Can this state's latest subsidy plan slash your power bills? Here's what we know

I’m one of the lucky ones who has a fully insulated house. I don’t need my a/c nearly as much as other places. I also have fans, but no solar. My electricity bill is extremely low and I believe it is only because I have insulation in both ceilings and walls. It’s something that can only be done...

Urgent health warning issued for Australian travellers

My brother and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise in September and we will be stopping in Istanbul for a day, as well as Greece. This information has surprised me, and it’s very good to know.

Federal court decision reveals truth as favourite Aussie fashion brand faces collapse

The clothing industry in Australia is not doing well at all. When companies like Shein and TEMU can sell the same clothes for a quarter of the price, the future looks grim.

Could this be the end of skyrocketing power bills? The government’s latest plan explained

It is recommended that you use as much power during the sunshine hours to prevent voltage levels becoming too high. If this happens it will create problems. Not many are aware of this.

Could this be the end of skyrocketing power bills? The government’s latest plan explained

Many years ago we were all being persuaded to switch to gas. Now we are being urged to go back to electricity. I wouldn’t listen to any of these so called experts. When solar voltage levels rise during peak production times, it causes problems as well. We may require grid upgrades or limiting...

Is your bank overcharging you? Discover surprising new fees for customers!

I’m with ING and must say that after being a customer for well over 20 years, I have saved a small fortune in fees, (provided that I deposit at least $1000 into my account each month). I also have a mortgage with ANZ and other accounts with CBA. Obviously, the reason that ING can do this, is...

Protect your computers and phones: these six words could make you a hacker's next victim

I agree, but if you just Google ‘Bengal Cat’, the question does pop up.

Protect your computers and phones: these six words could make you a hacker's next victim

I thought the same. My friend’s Bengal cat died recently though, so they do exist in Australia.

This shopping centre's decade-old tradition gets cancelled this year! Why?

So true. Christmas has become an occasion when we dig into our pockets and make big companies like Myer and David Jones, and many more, boost their profits. The public has been brainwashed and have long forgotten what Christmas is all about. I wonder how different it would be if all we gave was...

This shopping centre's decade-old tradition gets cancelled this year! Why?

It’s not cancelled as the headline suggests. As I am not from Melbourne I don’t know what the opening ceremony entails, but the window displays will be there. Surely that’s what people come to see.

Weird food pairings: What’s your favourite odd combo?

I’ve always loved cottage cheese (or Quark if you can find it), and honey on black bread. In my younger days we had cows and my mother made Quark every week. It was so delicious.

This state’s controversial measure slams $925 fine for doing this in public spaces!

I lived in Townsville for a number of years and witnessed indigenous people sitting in a park drinking Methylated spirits. It is very common and the police just confiscated it. I think that removing the alcohol had a better outcome for all. I'm sure that the government will never see the $925.
