What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, but never quite got around to?​

No dream is too quirky here, folks!

Pottery? Tap dancing? Stand-up comedy? Personally, I’ve always dreamed of learning how to roller skate! You know, like those cool retro disco moves with sparkly socks and zero knee injuries. Sadly, my balance says otherwise (imagine a ‘newborn giraffe’).

To speak Greek fluently.
I'm married to a Greek and use to hate it when visiting his family in the 70s as sitting around the dinner table the whole conversation was in Greek and I felt stupid sitting there not knowing what they were saying and too be honest I thought it was a little rude.

My Grandmother always said when someone goes to a new country to live they should learn the language of that country .

There are two things I've always wanted to be able to do.

The first is sign language. I know the very basics of Auslan but would love to be fluent.

The second is stained glass. I would love to be able to make those beautiful items. Unfortunately I don't have an artistic bone in my body and I know my efforts would fall somewhat short of the mark.

Learning the guitar.

The guitarist of a very prominent Australian band of the 1980s tried and failed. He handed me a guitar, arranged my fingers on the fretboard in an impossible position which caused my hand to cramp and stated "That will be the hardest note will you will ever have to play".

My first and only guitar lesson lasted less than two minutes.

l can just imagine how you would feel and if they could speak English they should have done so.
l would love to learn a language and over the years have learnt a few words but most of all l would love to draw and paint.

Yes they could speak English and I would feel a bit silly just sitting there when they would start laughing at what was said.

I love drawing and painting and I'm about to start on a painting of either my grandchildren or horses.

It's never to late to learn, start of by sketching .

I have a very good friend that came from Poland ,could not speak one word of English when she arrived Husbands family had migrated here when he was 6 so he was raised dinki di aussi. He went to Poland married her there and they came back . I met her at work,she had been here 6 weeks then had been to a few classes to speak English !! Worker together for a long time . Over the years some of her family members migrated here too . I was often invited to famoly meals with them and the rule was They were never allowed to speak one word of their language while they had guests only if something was said in English they didn’t understand and It was translated to them . It was considered very bad manners !! 50 years later we are still friends but a lot of distance apart but I still go when I can

Pottery and silk painting. I keep telling myself I’ll go and learn both when I downsize this house that’s falling down around my head and finally have some extra money to afford lessons. Been saying it for years now.

Ride a motorbike.....tried it one time only when a mate bought his first bike and he gave me a quick lesson and I rode it around the block...very very slowly...but didn't drop it all the same, mind you I went to turn one corner and ended up on the bloody footpath....that was fun. Never followed it through though, sorry still that I didn't.
