Sunday Classics 13.04.2025

Hey members!
😉

We’re back with another Sunday Classic, and trust us—you won’t want to miss this one!
🎶
🥁

This week, we’re cranking up the nostalgia with House of the Rising Sun by The Animals, thanks to our awesome member @Bullwinkle. Released in 1964, this track still packs a punch! Did you know? It has been covered by over 100 artists! From Bob Dylan to Dolly Parton, everyone’s put their spin on this unforgettable track.
🎤
💥
With that powerful guitar riff and Eric Burdon’s raw vocals, it’s no wonder this song is still rocking our playlists.
😎

Don’t forget—you’re in the driver’s seat! What song do you want us to feature next? Drop your picks below!

What a great memory, wish I was back in those days,.

Classic Hit.....never get tired of listening to it.....

Always loved it and love it still.
Always have and always will!
 ❤️ ☀️🏤

Little green bag - George Baker Selection.

Thank you SDC, for featuring
The House of the Rising Sun by The Animals. I have this on a 45 style record - it was my late husband’s ❤️

Definitely a favourite!!

Female singers stand out to me like Linda Ronstadt, Blue Bayou and It's So Easy, two great songs.
Most groups come and go but the solo artists hang around till the end.
Just in case you missed them...

Two of my guilty pleasures.

@DLHM's and my love song.

The bass in "Let The Sunshine In" has the most amazing rhythm bass ever!

As I have mentioned before, The Animals are my favourite band of all time. Did go to see them at Festival Hall Brisbane in late 60’s. Fantastic.
This tune is timeless.
A biased view, but they never made a bad tune.

Great taste.

What a great era for music, especially the "British Invasion" with bands such as the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, The Small Faces, Herman's Hermits, The Zombies, The Hollies, Manfred Mann and The Animals.

There is one notable omission from my list - The Who, a band I consider to be severely overrated.

Who did the US have? The Monkees, The Beach Boys, Chicago, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Mamas and Papas, The Doors and The Stooges.

The bolded are the only bands worthy of mention.

No way are you overstepping!

Just stating your preferences in 1960s music.

Didn't Linda Ronstadt start off in the band "Stone Ponies"? Testing my music memory here!

One of the most bizarre music videos of all time! And it's from 1963!

Bizarre- yes. Remember it well, the tune, but first time I have seen the video.

And what about Aussie bands/ musicians. We had some rippers. Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Deltones, Olivia, J’OK, Brian Cadd, LRB to name just a few. I know good music is just what suits the individual.
Out there a little was The Loved Ones. Leed singer was Gerry Humphries . Think he died only a few years back in the UK.

I also have it on a 45 record. Its a wonder it didn't disintegrate the number of times I played it when it first came out!!
