I was so good at them I actually never went through that much moneyThe only time I played a pinball machine was with my hometown friend when we were in Auckland. We went to do the weekly shop and ended up spending all of our grocery money in the machines.
They are fun!
However I learnt to leave them alone.
I remember how you had to leave a few 20c pieces on top if there wasn't a coin then someone else would walk up and add a coin claiming that it was their turn when all your games were upSpace Invaders, pool or pinball all 20c a game.
I spent way too much time on pinnies . best pinball story i was in george st sydney at a confrence and was playing pinnies and two undercovers accused of selling pot to kids . bit of a scuffle and i was off and they did,nt catch me till somewhere near dixon st . let me go hours later but worst thing was the tore my Guy Laroche spun cotton top .I was so good at them I actually never went through that much money
If we went to the movies at Hoyts George St we would go across the road near maccas and play. There were always undercover police there but could always spot them. They would have asked why you ran, what did you answer themI spent way too much time on pinnies . best pinball story i was in george st sydney at a confrence and was playing pinnies and two undercovers accused of selling pot to kids . bit of a scuffle and i was off and they did,nt catch me till somewhere near dixon st . let me go hours later but worst thing was the tore my Guy Laroche spun cotton top .
I'm a city girl and was very street wise. I would see under cover police and actually go up to them and say ' your not being very undercover ' why arnt you out looking for the real bad guysi said (truthfully) i thought they were going to mug me . i was just a country boy in the big city ! it took 2 coppers to drag me up the alley to hq . threatened , stood on in left , interragated , phonebook dropped on stomach and eventually released . barstards i loved that Guy Laroche !!!
In 1980 I worked in Kalbari (about 500km N of Perth). We used to put coins on the pool table edge, and when some-one ran out of beer money, they'd come along and scoop them all up and head to the bar, never any complaints, it just happened occasionally. Same pub, if it got too crowded in the pub, all the guys would simply carry the pool table out into the parking lot and carry on, the parking lot was far from level, good times.I remember how you had to leave a few 20c pieces on top if there wasn't a coin then someone else would walk up and add a coin claiming that it was their turn when all your games were up

It would be so good to start a thread for people to share photos of themselves, then and now. So then we can put faces to peopleWhat a wonderful exchange @mark godwin and @Suzanne rose! Pinball and street smarts!
This is a great idea, @Suzanne rose! I'll pass it on to the team!It would be so good to start a thread for people to share photos of themselves, then and now. So then we can put faces to people
Great story @Wandiwa! Sorry for the randomness, but what's the oddest thing that happened in that pub?In 1980 I worked in Kalbari (about 500km N of Perth).
