What you can expect from the Seniors Discount Club in 2022

So 2022 is well and truly here and we are bloody excited about it. We’ve officially been sending out our newsletters for more than six months, we’ve had our forum for more than four months, and we feel like we are getting into the swing of things. And you know what? We feel like you guys are too.

So, what can you, as a member of our club, expect from us in 2022?

An updated 2022 version of ‘The Ultimate Seniors Discount Club Guide eBook’
Members, you spoke and we listened. The updated 2022 version of our ‘Ultimate Seniors Discount Club Guide’ will include:
  • Even more deals and discounts Australia wide. We’ve been researching our bottoms off trying to find as many deals and discounts across the nation for you to take advantage of. From restaurants, to cafes, to gyms and pools and even retail shops, we’ve found even more places you can bag a bargain.
  • More deals and discounts for rural areas. For our rural members, we know our 2021 eBook didn’t have too many deals available to you. If we are being completely honest with you all, unfortunately they are not as easy to find as they should be. However, we have found far more deals for you rural folk that we are hoping you enjoy taking advantage of!
  • A larger focus on connecting seniors. Although it’s no secret we love a deal and a discount, we wanted to provide even more value to our members. That’s why we’ve added a segment to our eBook about the ‘Seniors Connect’ program run by the Australian government. We want our members to connect with other members, but we also don’t want you to just be connected by our club. We want to make sure no matter where you are in Australia, you can make new friends, meet new people and enjoy making new connections.
  • A new and improved ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ Segment. As our club grows, we get questions everyday from new members. We’ve collated these questions and have a new and improved ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ segment, where we answer all your questions ranging from how to get your Seniors card to the best place to do your grocery shop.
  • And so much more.
Our updated 2022 eBook will be landing in your inbox in January. So keep your eyes peeled, my friends!

More of our Daily Newsletters
Our daily newsletters seem to not only bring us a lot of joy, but you as well, so they aren’t going anywhere in 2022! But what you can expect is for us to mix things up a bit… We’ve been tossing up between a few ideas but here’s what we think we might try in 2022:
  • More stories written by our team. We have some super exciting news! We are welcoming another member to our team in January 2022. His name is Dan, and he is so cool he is even in a band. He’s going to be helping Jon, Vella, James, Sean and I with writing even more stories for you all to enjoy. From investigative journalism to testing products. Dan will be on board to help deliver you stories that we know you will enjoy.
  • A morning and afternoon newsletter. If one newsletter is enough for you, then that’s absolutely fine. We aren’t going to send two newsletters daily to everyone, only to the members who want an afternoon email. We are thinking of pulling segments out of the morning newsletter like our petrol prices, and our ‘On This Day’ segment and adding it to an afternoon newsletter, with even more content for you to enjoy. This is something we may look at introducing in the coming months.
  • Product testing. If there’s one thing that we learnt in 2021, it was that you lot love to know what products are worth buying, and what products are a complete waste of money, and honestly, who can blame you? We are thinking of introducing a weekly segment where we are going to buy products from multiple supermarkets or retail stores and compare them with each other. From figuring out which supermarket has the best, more affordable baked goods, to figuring out whether that $20 kettle from Kmart is just as good as that $120 one from David Jones. We’ll be testing the products and giving you honest reviews.
  • Member spotlights. It’s no secret how much we love and admire each and everyone of our members. That’s why we have been dying to introduce this segment! We will be introducing a member spotlight, where we interview members about their stories and share them with you on a weekly or monthly basis. We will let you know when we are ready for this one by doing a callout to see who is interested in being interviewed and sharing their story. Of course, there is absolutely no pressure to get involved, this would only be available to members who would like to share their story for everyone else to enjoy reading.
  • New and improved sponsors. As many of you may know, we have been so lucky to have been supported by our daily newsletter sponsor ‘Compare Club’ who has helped us bring this daily newsletter to life. Without their sponsorship, we wouldn't be where we are today and we will be working with them in 2022. We will ALWAYS be completely transparent about who is sponsoring us and you will never come across an ad in our newsletter without it being very clear that it is indeed, a sponsored segment. We are currently looking at getting more sponsors on board who we believe will be of use to you all. We are only going to work with sponsors that we believe will provide a valuable product or service to you, and we want you to know that if they don’t deliver exactly that, then we want nothing to do with them.
Our ‘normal’ daily newsletter will be back in your inbox from January 4th!

A new and improved website
We know many of you love our daily newsletter and also love our website. If you aren’t already a member of the website, then we recommend you sign up right here because it’s about to get better than ever. In 2022, we are changing our website ever so slightly and are introducing some exciting new assets:
  • Brain training. We want to build crosswords, word searches and sudoku on our website so you lot can enjoy some brain training whilst having a browse. We are even looking at building these games so that you can compete or team up with each other online. Connect with others and train your brain, all in the one place.
  • Even more daily deals. We know you get daily deals in the newsletter, but you know what? 3 deals a day aren’t enough. You may have seen these deals be slowly introduced at the end of 2021, but in 2022 we will be posting daily deals on the forum. These deals will range from the best daily grocery deals, to appliances, clothing and even chemist products.
  • A new design. Don’t worry folks, we aren’t changing the design too much, we just want to make the forum a whole lot easier for you all to use. So, we are introducing little things like having the most popular articles, deals and discounts, brain training, competitions and more, at the top of your home page, so they are easier to find. We are going to have a deals segment on the homepage too, so if you’re looking for a specific deal ro discount, you can easily navigate your way there. We are also introducing images, so you know, the forum is a little bit nicer to look at 😉 There will be no big changes, just little changes to make your lives a whole lot easier.
Honestly, we are wanting to do so much in 2022 for you, that there’s probably far more happening this year than what we’ve said above! We have so many ideas, that either we’ve come up with, or you have, that we’ve lost count! We cannot wait to see what this year brings and as always, if you have any ideas or suggestions, post them in the comments below! We will do our best to make them happen.

This all sounds good - I like the specials, unfortunately we don't have Aldi in Tasmania and it makes me miss Aldi so much. Anyhow its good to see what Coles and Woolies have.
I would really LOVE to see more thrift articles as the pressure increases on our pensions we need to make the dollars go so much further. Recycling, reusing, repurposing making do etc.

Looks like an interesting new year is being proposed, Especially the discount book which brings me to my last job before retirement, I was employed by the Australian Postal Institute as the buying and referring officer, employees of Telstra and Australian Post by paying a yearly amount could become members of API which had an office in each state, main benefits open to members were our own holiday homes in each state, and our own travel agency, in our Adelaide branch we also had a gym, a library, and my referral section which had up to 100 referrals, sometimes a member would phone wanting goods not included on my list but on contact would give a 10% discount and ask to be included on my site, just a bit of trivial but our members gained more benefits than what they paid for there yearly fee, keep up the good work, how about a photograph of the team included on top of daily letters Dennis R.

Thank you for your continually development of this wonderful concept. I will enjoy seeing the product comparisons, also including food products. Maybe down the track we can look at feedback regarding providers of aged care services too. This will be very helpful to seniors negotiating Hone Care Packages for the first time! Happy New Year everyone!

Great! As long as you don’t chuck anything out! I love the riddles, jokes, deals, facts, wildlife photos, reminiscing and general up-beat vibe. Thanks for a lot of cheery mornings so far!!

Exciting times ahead evidently, but as regard to product testing..... are you setting up as an alternative to Choice? If so I hope the group has very deep pockets. There are many sites available where product information is available.. ie: Whirlpool Forums etc Interesting days ahead, good luck with it all.:D

Hi Happy New Year to you all. Thanks for all the information re specials. I'm aprox. 100 kls away from good shops. So help on what's good or not worth the drive to shops for is so helpful.

Great ideas, I especially look forward to product reviews.

I really like the daily emails, but could you PLEASE fix the daily weather forecast, which is ALWAYS way off! Your forecast is always colder than the real one, often up to 10 degrees difference (and I am comparing to the BOM's forecast for the same location).

Sounds good to me.

is there any way seniors with no super to fall back onto, like myself, can get a better deal with Specialist prices? I recently, had to opt out of my private health fund, which after research, was the cheapest of them all, because of the price increase. I can no longer afford it & I have had to cancel my surgeons appt twice now because I can’t afford their fees. I live on my own & because of the price of fuel now, I cannot afford the trip an hour away to see the specialist anyway.
.
that’s leads to another question for you…..is there anyway seniors are able to get a discount on fuel for our cars? It’s basically housebounding me & probably thousands of other pensioners out there.

Where do you live? If in NSW and live rural you can get a $250 fuel card. I don't know about other states but I would imagine they have something similar.
