Romancing the Stone legend Zack Norman passes away at 83

The entertainment world has lost another of its bright stars as we bid farewell to the enigmatic Zack Norman, who passed away at 83.

Known for his distinctive character roles and career spanned decades, Norman's departure leaves a legacy of laughter, memorable performances, and a touch of the unexpected.



Zack Norman began his journey in the world of comedy in the 1960s.

His talent soon led him to the iconic stage of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1969, where he made his television debut with a stand-up performance that showcased his unique comedic timing and presence.

Perhaps one of Norman's most unforgettable roles was that of Ira, Danny DeVito's sidekick in the 1984 action-adventure film Romancing the Stone.

His portrayal of the crocodile-obsessed cousin was not only humorous but also added a layer of charm to the thrilling escapades of the movie.

In 1990, he starred in Cadillac Man as Harry Munchack, sharing the spotlight with Robin Williams and Fran Drescher.

His versatility as an actor was further evidenced by his roles in the '90s, which included appearances in Babyfever, At Home with the Webbers, Mojave Moon, and even a guest spot on the beloved sitcom The Nanny as Uncle Jack.



His career continued to flourish into the 2000s and 2010s, with roles in films such as Hollywood Dreams, Irene in Time, Festival in Cannes, and his final film, Chief Zabu in 2016.

Beyond the camera, Norman was a man of many talents. He was an avid painter and art collector, creating works under the name Zack Zuker since the '70s.

The heartfelt tribute was shared by his daughter, Lori Zuker Briller, on social media.

'You were the most enigmatic person wherever you went,' she wrote.

'You brought so many laughs and so much enrichment to all of our lives.'
