Police arrest three men suspected of stealing over $1 million in burglary spree

The alleged burglaries, which targeted affluent Melbourne suburbs such as Blackburn, Doncaster, Narre Warren, Hampton Park, and Templestowe, sent shockwaves through the local communities and prompted a stern response from law enforcement.
The trio, aged 25, 24, and 19, were reportedly of Irish descent and only arrived in Australia within the last six months.
Since their arrival, they embarked on a crime spree that involved the theft of cash, jewellery, and designer handbags from numerous homes.
The burglaries were said to have occurred predominantly when the homeowners were away, leaving their sanctuaries vulnerable to intrusion.
In a calculated move to evade detection, the suspects allegedly used cleaning products to wipe away any potential forensic evidence.
However, their efforts to cover their tracks did not prevent the vigilant work of the Victoria Police, who managed to track down the suspects at a hotel near Melbourne Airport.
The arrests were captured on video, showing the three men, two donned in hoodies, being led to separate police vehicles.
Charged with a litany of serious offences, including aggravated home invasion, aggravated burglary, burglary, and theft from a motor vehicle, the men were remanded and faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court the following day.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendon Pollock of the Victoria Police stated: ‘Your home should be your sanctuary—Victoria Police simply will not stand for anyone who seeks to enter someone else’s home and takes what’s not theirs.’
‘We will continue to target serious and organised crime groups, no matter where they’re from.’
This recent operation follows the arrests of three other Irish men on March 18, who are believed to be part of the same international crime syndicate.
The earlier arrests came after burglaries in Sunshine and Mill Park, with police recovering $380,000 worth of cash and designer jewellery.
These men, aged 35, 28, and 21, face charges including burglary, theft, criminal damage, aggravated home invasion, and false imprisonment and are scheduled to appear in court in June.
The investigation remains active, with police probing the possibility of connections between the two groups and other unsolved burglaries. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that could assist in the ongoing inquiries.
