Local help / volunteer organisations in your area?

Hi guys... Not sure if we should have a dedicated sub-forum for this, but are there any free or subsidised services in your local area that you think other members should know about? For example, a member emailed in and mentioned he's a volunteer driver for https://www.linkcommunitytransport.org.au/

He says: "I'm a volunteer driver with a community transport organisation that provides subsidised transport and in home services. Unless they hear about it they are missing out on what's available to them. This also applies to pensioners. We are not just a " bus or taxi service ". Many are windowed and socially isolated and missing out on going places and seeing people."

Sounds like a pretty great operation, but they only service a few areas in Melbourne. Wouldn't it be great if we could put together a list of these types of services for all across Australia?

If you work/volunteer for an organisation like this (or use one yourself), please mention it here in this thread so that other members know about it.

I'm a volunteer at Al-Anon Family groups. It's a 12 step self-help program for families of Alcoholics to share their experience, strength and hope in a group setting or at online meetings. There are meetings all over Australia and the world. It's free to attend meetings. If you become a member you can chose to make a voluntary donation. Australian website: https://www.al-anon.org.au/. 24 hour helpline 1300 ALANON (1300 252 666)
