The unimaginable grief of losing loved ones is a burden no one should have to bear alone.
Jessica Oliver, wife of the late actor Christian Oliver, has broken her silence with a poignant statement following the catastrophic plane crash that claimed the lives of her husband and their two young daughters, Madita (12) and Annik (10).
The devastating accident occurred on January 4, 2024, in the Caribbean, where the family had been enjoying a New Year's holiday.
'We are deeply saddened by the tragic plane accident on January 4, 2024, which took the lives of our beloved family members,' Jessica wrote in a statement shared on the social media page of WundaBar Pilates, where she serves as a regional manager.
The family had been returning home from their holiday when 'the single-engine plane they were travelling in experienced engine trouble and fell into the ocean'.
'Unfortunately, all four passengers on the small aircraft did not survive.'
Christian Oliver, a German-born actor, was best known for his role in the film Speed Racer.
He also had dozens of other film and television credits to his name, including a role in The Good German, a 2006 World War II film directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney and Cate Blanchett.
Oliver also appeared in the 1990s series Saved by the Bell: The New Class, where he played a Swiss transfer student named Brian Keller.
However, beyond his acting career, Oliver was a devoted father to his two daughters, Madita and Annik.
The statement also paid a touching tribute to the girls, highlighting their unique personalities and passions.
'Madita, a vibrant 7th-grade student at Louis Armstrong Middle School, was known for her lively spirit and excelled in academics, dance, singing, and performances,' the statement read.
'Annik, a 4th-grade student at Wonderland Ave Elementary School, was recognized for her gentle yet strong demeanour. She was always the first to offer a kind word or a comforting hug. Her passions included basketball, swimming, and various forms of art.'
'The deep bond, infectious laughter, and adventurous spirit shared by Madita and Annik will be profoundly missed in their communities.'
'[Christian's] loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him.'
