FCA Australia recalls new Jeep Grand Cherokee units

As we navigate the roads of life, we trust our vehicles to be steadfast companions, safely carrying us to our destinations.

What happens when a recall notice shakes that trust?

For nearly 3,000 Aussie drivers, this is not a hypothetical question.

Under the global automotive group Stellantis, FCA Australia issued a recall for the current Jeep Grand Cherokee units due to safety concerns.

According to the statement, 2854 units manufactured between 2021 and 2023 are subject to the recall—including two-row Grand Cherokee units and three-row Grand Cherokee L models.

The recall pertains to an issue with defective bolts that could have severe implications for the vehicle's stability.

The Department of Transport's recall notice warned owners that the wheels of the Jeep Grand Cherokee might detach from the vehicle, stirring owners and the public.

However, Stellantis Australia has clarified the situation and stated that the original wording was incorrect.

'Stellantis Australia is working with the Department of Infrastructure to rectify this,' a spokesperson said.

A corrected warning was issued, which read:

'The upper control arm retaining bolts may have been damaged during vehicle assembly.

A loss of clamp load may result in your vehicle's front wheel leaning outward, which could lead to an accident and severe injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.'

For Jeep Grand Cherokee owners, it's crucial to determine whether your vehicle is affected by this recall.

The Department of Transport listed the affected units and their Vehicle Identity Numbers (VIN) here.

FCA Australia also urged owners to contact an authorised dealership for necessary repairs.

The repairs will not cost the owner, as it's a measure to ensure the vehicle's reliable form.

Stellantis Australia also provided a dedicated contact number for Jeep owners who would like further assistance.

Owners and drivers may reach them by calling 1800-870-714.

In a previous related article, Jeep Grand Cherokees manufactured between 2011 and 2022 were recalled due to manufacturing errors, particularly in the vehicle's fuel pump.

The recall led to over 40,000 recalled units.

So, if you're driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, take a moment to check if your vehicle is part of this critical recall.

It is crucial to address this issue promptly to ensure road safety among drivers and passengers.
