1. Slicing multi-layer cakes

This is the easiest way to cut perfect cake layers, and you don't even need a knife! All you need is some dental floss and a few toothpicks. Make sure to use unflavoured floss.

First, stick the toothpicks around the side of the cake. This will help you to cut even-sized layers as the floss won’t slip down.

Then, wrap the dental floss around the outside of the cake and pull it through to slice. Voila! You now have perfect cake layers that are ready to be filled and frosted.

The best part? Fewer utensils to wash as you can just dispose of the floss after use, unlike when you use knives.

2. Ring stuck on your finger? Just use dental floss!

If your ring is stuck on your finger, don't panic! There's an easy way to remove it using dental floss.

Simply thread the floss underneath the ring, then grab both ends and twist off the ring. Voila! Your ring will be removed in no time.

So the next time you find yourself in this predicament, remember this handy tip.

3. Removing caked on food.

If you're anything like us, you're always looking for ways to make your life just a little bit easier. And what could be more frustrating than trying to remove stuck food from dishes? Thankfully, there's a simple hack that will make the process a breeze: use dental floss!

Wrap the floss around the bottom of the stuck food, then gently pull and wiggle both ends from side to side. Voila! The food will come right off!

4. One-handed bracelet fastening

Even if you only have one hand available, this hack makes it quite simple to put on a bracelet. Simply pass the floss through the jump ring, then, holding the jump ring in place, wrap the bracelet around your wrist and clasp the two ends together. So simple yet so handy!

With a little bit of creativity, you can make your tasks easier with some unlikely tools!

Years ago my then husband was in the habit of splitting his trousers, so I used to sew them up with dental floss, and they would never split again.

Yes, stitch your buttons on with dental floss, they will never come off, Ally

Just remembered, I've repaired a friend's cushions from her outdoor furniture with dental floss.
All the stitching had broken, so I said I could repair it instead of her replacing the cushions.
Was a huge job.....took ages, I think I broke quite a few needles along the way!
