The Bracelet!
David and Rachel have been married for about 3 months when
they go to visit David’s parents in Florida.
After they have been at the condo for about an hour,
David approaches his mother alone in the kitchen.
"So," David says quietly, "now that you’ve gotten to know
Rachel since we’ve been married, what do you think of her?"
"You know," David’s mother says, "I’ve actually been thinking about this.
I want her to have one of my bracelets.
" She quietly slips a bracelet into David’s hand.
"Should she put it on now?" David asks.
"That would mean a lot to me," his mother says.
David walks over to Rachel.
"My Mom just gave me one of the bracelets that she has.
She wants you to wear it."
Rachel slips the bracelet onto her wrist.
"It’s nice," she whispers to her husband,
"but I wish that something else was engraved on it besides 'do not resuscitate'."
