Polestar issues urgent recall over examples of its vehicles over injury risks

As we embrace the future with open arms, electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming increasingly popular, offering a cleaner, more sustainable mode of transportation.

Among the rising stars in the EV market is Polestar, a brand that has been making waves with its innovative designs and cutting-edge technology.

However, even the most promising of technologies can encounter hiccups, and consumers must stay informed about the safety of their vehicles.

Polestar Australia has issued a recall for seven examples of the Polestar 2.

This recall is due to a manufacturing defect that could cause the front passenger seat to move unexpectedly, posing a potential safety risk.

‘Due to a manufacturing defect, the front passenger seat mounting bolts may not have been tightened according to specifications and could become loose or detach,’ the carmaker said in its recall notice.

‘As a result, the seat may move inadvertently.’

‘If the front passenger seat moves inadvertently in the event of an accident or hard braking, it could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.’

The affected vehicles are all from the 2023 production batch, and owners can identify if their car is part of the recall by checking the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list against the list provided by Polestar.

The recall notice, which contains all the necessary details, is also available for review here.

If you own an affected Polestar 2, it is imperative that you take action immediately.

Polestar urged customers to contact Polestar Customer Support or their nearest authorised Polestar Partner to have their vehicle inspected and the necessary work done at no charge.

For further information or to address any concerns, owners can reach out to Polestar Australia's customer care centre on 1800 014 544.

This comes after Chevrolet issued an urgent recall for 636 examples of its Silverado model 1500 across Australia.

The reason was a software glitch in the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) that could lead to decreased braking performance. You can read more about it here.
