Pizza lover’s nightmare - Digusting find on Domino's pizza will make you think twice before ordering

We can all agree, nothing beats a lazy night in with a slice of cheesy pizza. It’s the ultimate comfort food.

It's also easy to order and relatively cheap, making it a great option for when you're in the mood for something fast and effortless to eat.

After all, no movie night is complete without a hot pizza to share with friends and family.

But, a recent experience for two Perth customers is a reminder to be extra vigilant when ordering from fast-food delivery services.

A mum and daughter had planned to celebrate Valentine's Day together with a Hawaiian pizza from their local Domino's branch in Rockingham, WA.

But as they began to tuck into the pizza, they quickly noticed that something wasn't right.

‘It smells damp and tastes absolutely disgusting,' the mum said.

After taking a couple more bites, the pair decided to flip the pizza over only to be met with a shocking surprise — the pizza base was covered with patches of mould.

Unsurprisingly, the customers immediately phoned the store to complain about their 'special' pizza - and Domino's apparently sent another one their way without hesitation.

Unfortunately, however, the second pizza was not the improvement they were hoping for.

When the delivery driver arrived at their door a second time, the customer received yet another mould-infested pizza.

This time, the driver reportedly claimed that the mould was 'just burnt' dough - but the customer wasn't convinced.

The mum and daughter posted their displeasure on social media, and not long after, Domino's posted a public apology on its official page.

The management wrote: ‘Rest assured, we take matters of food safety and cleanliness extremely seriously.’

'We are currently conducting a thorough investigation into this issue at the local Rockingham store in collaboration with Domino’s Operations Management and Food Safety Teams.'

But despite Domino's act of taking accountability, the comments section of the post still contained quite a few disgruntled customers.

One user wrote: ‘This is unacceptable.’

'Dicing with people’s health is not to be taken lightly. Report to local food safety officer,' said another.

Some claimed that they had encountered similar unpleasant experiences when ordering from the Rockingham store.

‘I was sick after having pizza there the other day, maybe this was why,’ one customer recalled.

Another added: ‘We have ordered from here a few times. The only time it did turn up I got what I suspected was food poisoning, and ended up in the ED on fluids.’

While the investigation is still ongoing, it is important to remember that this case should not be taken lightly.

Food contamination can be detrimental to the health of individuals, resulting in anything from a slightly upset stomach to serious and life-threatening illnesses such as kidney failure.

In the case of Domino's pizza delivery, E.coli and other unhealthy bacterial forms can be hazardous to consume and have a far-reaching public health impact.

The consequences of food contamination can be grave and long-lasting, and not just confined to individuals affected by it.

Food contamination can cause the spread of illnesses to communities, and result in costly public health care responses, such as rapid and comprehensive testing, treatment and contact tracing.

Such outbreaks can also cause financial impacts on businesses, as well as interrupt the supply chain, leading to potential layoffs or instability in the industry.

As such, public health authorities, food industry representatives, and individual consumers must take the threat of food contamination seriously and take appropriate steps to mitigate its impact.

This often involves strict safety regulations and proper hygiene practices during manufacturing and preparation, as well as stringent inspections and recalls of products that are potentially hazardous.

It is also important to ensure that people are aware of the risks, and understand what to do if they suspect that an item of food may be contaminated.

Key Takeaways
  • A family in Perth experienced a disgusting surprise when they discovered mould on their Domino's pizza base.
  • They took to social media to warn fellow customers of the incident and Domino's responded with an apology and investigation.
  • People were angered by the incident as they believed it could be a risk to the customers’ health.
  • Several other customers commented that they have previously had unpleasant experiences with their orders from the Rockingham store in Perth.

Members, if you find yourself in a similar situation, we recommend you make a formal complaint to the establishment and also contact your local food authority to promptly report the incident.

Health and safety regulations must be followed closely, especially when it comes to restaurants so that everyone can be sure their meals are safe to consume.

No thank God we have never experience such an event and hopefully never will but that is pretty serious and potentially dangerous. I hope that this store has undergone thorough investigation for this and fixed their problems. I would think the Rockhampton store will suffer as well because customers will not get dominos again I wouldn't think and you know what I wouldn't blame them either. Thank God the people noticed the mould quickly otherwise who knows how sick they could of become.

Disgusting and No Excuse whatsoever is acceptable. Plus, imagine all the other customers that had pizzas handed over to them or delivered and they ate them. If there was one pizza base like this, it means that there were many others. It's absolutely impossible to have only one base like this from the exact same dough. Imagine how many people fell ill and thought they just had gastroenteritis, bowel virus which I can assure you is extremely painful. I have had this twice now from bad food I thought was fresh, veggies/fruits washed, fresh chicken just purchased from W and taken home and cooked within 25 minutes of purchase.

If Dominos offers pizzas for a year, my advice for these people is $Knock that offer back. Once you accept it, it automatically can been seen as $settlement. If anything, Dominos Head Office should be offering $$$settlement. Dominos stores may be themselves 'independent' but they pay $$$monies to Dominos that includes Liability Insurance.

Rest assured that Dominos will state that they have conducted a thorough investigation and then just 'Pass the Buck.'

After seeing inside a Dominoes pizza shop near where I live I would never order anything from them. The place was unclean and cobwebs under the counter bench. You could see the food preparation area and food was left out in containers and crumbs everywhere. And no, the place wasn't open at the time of seeing all this. It was not the first time I had walked past and looked in the window and seen this mess. Yuk!!

Wouldn't mould only occur where a product was damp?

ls there a possibility these bases were prepared well in advance but unused & then placed in a freezer, taken out, again unused & again replaced where moisture has caused condensation when the tray became cold?

The saying goes that, "Lightening doesn't strike twice in the same place", but for these ladies it did & within a short period of each other.

Were there other pizzas made from this same batch & delivered to other customers between & after these deliveries? The mind boggles after reading this story.
