Sydney-based food blogger Batoul, who goes by the username @halalfoodsydney on TikTok, posted a video on the platform, sharing three things the viewers probably didn’t know about McDonald’s.

She began her video by recalling how used to work at the fast-food chain when she was a teenager. And although she was aware of the ‘practices’, she has never done any of these herself.

The first one refers to the age-old urban tale of Macca’s ice cream machines, which are usually broken.

She claimed that whenever employees say that the ice cream machine was broken, it wasn’t always the case. Sometimes, someone just accidentally put shake mix into the ice cream mix.

Now we know who’s behind the ice cream machine’s ‘technical problems’. Worth keeping in mind next time your request for a McFlurry is denied.

The second one is for those who prefer certain milk in their fast-food drinks.

Batoul claimed that employees usually use full-cream milk whenever they run out of skim milk.

Looks like you have to do a double-check now, folks! If you can’t have full cream milk due to dietary requirements, you might want to go elsewhere for your morning coffee.

The last fact that Batoul shared had people grabbing their keys and going on a Maccas run. Maybe you’ll be the same!.

She said: “Pickles are free, so you can actually go and ask for like a whole tub of it.”

Yes, you heard it right. Pickles are free!

“We used to get pregnant women coming in for them all the time,” she added. “You can just tell them to fill up a sundae cup; they’re nice about it.”

Not long after she posted the clip, comments from excited fans flooded in, with some saying: “Oh my god now I gotta go get Macca’s.”

“You really shouldn’t have told me about the free pickles, because I’m on my way now,” wrote another person, while a third added: “Wait, hang on! I can ask for a cup of pickles! Why the hell is this not on the menu?”

But hold your horses, folks…

A spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia confirmed that they indeed offer free pickles, but only in limited numbers and only as an extra to any burger, wrap, or salad orders. Meaning, you might not be able to go there and order pickles alone.

Some TikTok viewers also said that their local Macca’s charged them for a cup of pickles, with one person saying, “Every Maccas I’ve been to charge for pickles…”

Looks like you’ll have to personally go to your local Macca’s to find out…

In the meantime, why not try to recreate their sausage and egg McMuffin instead?
