Fact of the Day: There’s no such thing as zero-calorie food.
There’s no such thing as zero-calorie food. It might sound surprising, but even items labeled 'zero calories' usually contain some energy. The trick lies in food labeling rules: if a serving contains less than 5 calories, companies are allowed to round it down to zero. So that 'calorie-free' cooking spray, stick of gum, or fizzy drink? Not completely free—they’re just so low in calories per serving that they get the zero label.
But here’s the catch: if you keep adding 'zero-calorie' sprays to your pan or chewing gum all day, those micro-calories can quietly pile up. So while they won’t break your diet, they’re not technically 'nothing.' Just a fun reminder that in food (and in life), not everything is quite as it seems.
