Who remembers when the famous Coolangatta Hotel in Queensland looked like this? Right by the beach, it was the perfect spot to relax with a cold drink after a day in the sun. The wonderful Drag shows Johnny Moselle put on in the late 60's & 70's. Fabulous Entertainment with great singing and dancing and of course, Comedy. R.I.P John Stanton ( & Peter Small ( Moselle ) Missed by many.

Yes - My husband and I enjoyed drinks there way back in the 70's. There was a 'you beaut' kebab establishment just around the corner in the same precinct. This was at a time when they were just making their first appearance and we innocent country dwellers were gobsmacked at how good they were.

A hotbed of pretension just like the Northern and Beach Hotels in Byron Bay.

We lived in Kirra and used to go into Coolangatta all the time. This was before it became commercialised and it was more like living in a village with knowing everyone. It was the Gold Coast with very few houses between Coolangatta and Palm Beach. We used to drive up to Southport for shopping and it was a very pleasant easy drive in those days with very little traffic. Even Surfers Paradise had only been partially developed. I remember those days with pleasure and am so glad I no longer live there as it is not the same easygoing safe place it used to be.
