Children and wearing bicycle helmets

We were just walking along Broadwater Boulevard yesterday when we were passed by a boy aged about 6 riding a bike who then attempted to ride up a huge pile of sand. Unfortunately he landed in a heap on the other side and I thought he was unconscious and then he appeared and ran crying to his mum who was sitting further down the road. His bike was a bit mangled so I picked it up and took it to where they were. The boy was not wearing a helmet and I think he was very lucky to have survived. I read him the riot act to him but if his mum does not insist on a helmet he may not be so lucky next time. I am an 88 years old OMIL who has smashed 3 helmets over the years and they do save lives. Please make your kids wear helmets especially if they are going to do stupid stunts.—

feeling thankful. I Posted this on Facebook yesterday and there was just one reply stating that I should mind my own business and that individual has been told many times that he is so wrong. Many people stated the old saying that 'it takes a village to raise a child' so what do you all think. There were two replies from nurses who have to deal with children's head injuries every day as a result of not wearing a helmet.
