    I always have sliced and diced onions in the freezer. You can even buy them frozen. I also keep frozen grated carrots, swedes and leeks, and make my own stock and freeze it. That way I always have the makings for a pot of soup.

    Where do people think sauces were kept before refrigeration? We didn’t have a fridge in our home when I was growing up; where did we keep things - in the pantry! Sauces are full sugar, salt and vinegar, all of which are preservatives. Hasn’t harmed me or my family so far.
