    Microwave

Had to have new technology but a guy who was a computer nerd doing some work for us would not go into the kitchen or anywhere near it and refused to eat anything that had been cooked in it as he was afraid of the "radiation"!

    Koala Toy

I was given a koala by my grandparents when we came to Australia at the end of 1965. It looks very like the one in the picture and has very soft grey fur. He has lost his little plastic hands and feet over the years but is otherwise in good condition. I wouldn't part with him.

TV host's shocking comment on Princess Catherine's post-cancer look sparks outrage

As other members have commented chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments all have an ageing effect on the body. And there is also the effect of stress and the uncertainty of your future while having treatment. Obviously this reporter has no idea what she is talking about.

Everything was closed on a Sunday

I remember going to visit my grandparents and being told to keep nice and quiet (there were after all 3 boisterous kids!) After lunch my Grandad would sit in his favourite armchair and have a nap - although he always said he was only "resting his eyelids"! Life was a lot simpler then.

    Joke Couple Shopping 🛍️

The difference between male and female shopping - the man wants new jeans - he marches into the nearest shop, selects the jeans, pays for them and he is ready to go home. The lady goes shopping - likes to look in many shops to compare, try on garments and finally decides on those items she...

Yes it was like a Dyson these days. I can recall Mum putting my hair in rollers and sitting in this hair dryer for ages. The plastic hood was quite hot!

    Electric Ceramic Jug

Yes we had one many years ago and Dad used to replace the element just like he did with the toaster. I thought they were very heavy and awkward to pour. I do like my modern kettle!

Memoir reveals years of hidden struggles for iconic singer

We are looking at this story in today's context when victims are encouraged and supported to speak out. Many years ago as members will recall people did not speak up for fear of not being believed, or made to think that it was their fault or they were intimidated by the person who was hurting...

Totally agree. How often in our long lives do we see the same thing happening - one party is elected for so long then a change of party occurs and good projects from the first party are then cancelled or downsized. Many years ago in NSW the government at the time closed many hospital beds...

    Playground merry-go-round

We had one in the local park and there was always lots of kids playing on it. In England we didn't have the heat problems. Given that we didn't have many toys or equipment that you could ride on - the merry go round was always popular. My other favourite was a swing that we had in our backyard.

    Lavender Farm

Just absolutely stunning. I love lavender - my Mum used to have Yardley's lavender talcum powder and I always loved the fragrance.

    Lamington drives

I remember having a lamington drive at work (hospital) as a fundraiser. It was such a messy job coating them in chocolate and then rolling in coconut. After working on these for about 4 hours I swore I would never want to see another lamington in my life! But I reneged and now I love them as...
