The problem with the recipe is the availability in Australia of "tart apples". All Australian apples are sweet, which does not assist in the baking of such things as apple cakes, tarts, or pies. Also the cinnamon content could be reduced. There's nothing worse that a cinnamon cake with apple.

It is clear that the recipes from this regular contributor emanate from USA (from terminology and measurement units, but also from cuisine style). That of course does not mean that the recipes are not attractive. Although Italienate-American cuisine is not as popular here in Australia as in USA...

From the description of the ingredients, it appears that "Babybird" may be American. I often refer to American Apple Pies more correctly as Cinnamon pies with apple. This menu reinforces it.
