Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas? Eagle-eyed shoppers are left gobsmacked after spotting holiday-themed items in August

No matter what age you are, Christmas is a special time to look forward to. The excitement of decorating the tree, baking biscuits, wrapping presents, and spending time with family and friends are some of the things that we all cherish.

While we're still a few months away from the holiday season, some retailers seem to be setting the tone for what's to come for Christmas this year…

More than four months before Christmas, images of Christmas trees and festive goods piled on shelves at Costco have surfaced online, leaving some shoppers debating whether it is appropriate for businesses to get into the holiday spirit super early.

Mum-of-two Mykayla, discovered the finds in her local store at Ringwood, Victoria, and posted pictures of them on a Christmas-themed Facebook group.

The photos featured Christmas trees and Disney Mickey Mouse Nutcracker statues, which cost $119.99 for a pair.

The post has captured the attention of several shoppers who expressed their excitement for the items.

One user wrote: 'This makes me so happy, I can't wait to decorate again.'

'Time to get that Costco membership,' another said.

While some people were eager to get a deal before prices for these decors increase in the coming months, others denounced the early display of the items, labelling the moves as 'pure madness' and a 'money grab'.

Meanwhile, some thought it was humorous that Christmas-related goods were available four months before the big event.

Regardless of the reactions she received from her post, Mykayla admitted that she 'couldn't help but purchase' some of these Christmas items.

She shared: 'I walked in to buy kitty litter and almost had a heart attack tbh (to be honest), immediately ran out and got a cart.'

Well, we could not blame you if you suddenly feel the urge to get your hands on these holiday-themed products. After all, the reality is that the holiday season is just around the corner so we need to start planning our decorations and activities.

Do you have any traditions that you look forward to each year? Maybe you decorate your house from top to bottom or you spend hours in the kitchen baking holiday treats? Whatever your traditions may be, make sure to enjoy every minute of them!

Also, we want to hear from you! What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it's too early for businesses to start selling holiday-themed items?

I can’t see any problem with Christmas decorations out early. At least if you buy early, by the time the stores such as Big W, Target and Kmart start selling their cheap Chinese products you would already have yours.
Besides Costco are not telling you, you have to buy your Christmas decorations, that’s up to the individual. If you don’t want them, just walk away, unless you want your 5 seconds of fame via Social Media.
As long as they don’t forget the true meaning of Christmas.

I don't think it's bad selling decorations early just don't decorate early .

I used to go over the top with decorating, cooking , gifts ect . Then I started seeing things I didn't like.
Kids wanting more and more

People over drinking

I read an article on how the suicide rate is high at Xmas as is divorce for a number of reasons ,

people go into debt

Fighting with extended family

Loneliness... people who don't have family or who have just lost a loved one makes festive times hard

How many celebrate Xmas for the birth of Jesus or for that matter give thanks for his sacrifice.

Children are nolonger happy with games ect . It is a known fact that phones and latest playstations are top of the list

All of that got me reading further and what I discovered shocked me at when and how Christmas originated.

As a Christian I decided to boycott Christmas all together.

Do some digging and research you will be shocked.

Why does it matter if you want to display Xmas trees decorating your business, what time they go out on display. Some people shop 10 days after Xmas, really when I see something for my family and friends I will buy it and give it to them at Xmas.

I don't think it is too early. I have started my Christmas shopping already, did a few months ago. Got to get things when you have the money.

I am so over Christmas. I want to go back to the old days when Christmas was more about catching up with family and friends and far less about how much you spend on getting the best and latest whiz bangs. It makes me sad to think about the untold number of people who will go further into debt in these trying times, or do not have what it takes to cut back and be more realistic.:(

I don’t think it’s for her 15mins of fame on social media, more the fact that big retailers are showing no respect to our traditional Christian Festivities, the same at Easter, Easter Fare such as Hot Cross Buns Eggs etc being on sale in January.

You are so right, I personally think the whole world needs to step back 40 years to be honest.

Not what l expect to see, but then, if Hot X Buns & Easter Eggs appear on shelves just after Christmas what else would you expect?

How do these items appearing so early affect our younger generation? Do they grow up believing Easter is not in April but runs from Feb. - April & Christmas starts in August & culminates with presents on December 25th? Again it is big businesses spoiling these special occassions in the name of the almighty $. Not happy Jane!

No wonder Australia is losing it's identity, people are going with American trash all the time, Ya-alll!
I don't care what people say, it is too early for Christmas, it's the middle of August, H E L L O, they might as well just have it all year round with Easter and all the other junk. Nothing is special anymore. Not even children seem to see it as special anymore.
